You know, this morning I really wanted to give a rant, but I didn't have the opportunity and now I'm not pissed off anymore. I had a good day! But now I'm faced with a dilemma. Where to put my story? I guess I could put it here, but I don't think it's rant-full enough anymore. The Dream Thread? Maybe...dreams are the subject, but I don't actually describe my dream in detail. The F/RT thread? I don't think it's F/R enough. I DON"T KNOW! GRAAAAH!

EDIT: I spelled dilemma wrong. I am ashamed.

So, Fake Mom* bought my brother Scooby Doo pasta. I was like " :o ". Up till now, there is only slight annoyance. But then, when we're sitting at the table it's Scooby Dooby this Scooby Dooby that. Fuck that. When you are are going to buy ugly, repulsive unhealthy pasta, at least pronounce right!

Here we go, again. Again. One thing goes wrong and you just go to fuckkin pieces. You blame yourself unfairly. You make stupid claims about how much fail you're made of. And I hate it. I hate it!

I cannot always be propping you up. Find a therapist, I know you need one. Be more optimistic. For god's sake can you be more assertive. Decide what you want. Tell me. Think about what you want; hell, put your thoughts into words, there's a good place to start!

I love you. I can't not love you, but when you act like this it drives me up the wall.
you may remember me from 2008 or 2009. I left for a while. I'm now sporadically back. I tumble here.

Um, you do know that it's impossible to contain avatar and signature swapping to just FaiD, right? It somewhat messes with every single thing you ever posted anywhere else on the forum, since it confuses who's posting what.
Unless stated otherwise, I do not care whether a statement, by itself, constitutes a persuasive political argument. I care whether it's true.

- Okay, I'm really pissed off. My roommate and I want to move out into another flat, partially because this one is in a small village with bad train schedules, partially because both of us really don't get along with our landlady and she wants me outta the house until December anyway.
To do so, he'd need a job because he can't afford the rent otherwise (rent's VERY cheap here and we won't find a flat this cheap anywhere else) and his parents wouldn't give him a lot.
Wouldn't be much of a problem, you'd think, in a university city of all things, but he says he doesn't think he's competent enough for any job. He's good with design, and he could already have a job as a web designer in our company. I even said he needs one and my boss told me he should just apply, but he'd better do that soon. He won't. I talked to him and he says he doesn't think he can do this. Hell, I've seen the CMS, and all he needs to do is to change some of the content and tinker a bit with the templates, nothing that'd require more than a bit of HTML and CSS, I know he knows this, and whatever of this he doesn't know off the top of his head... well, this is the real world, not an exam, you are allowed to look things up. Also, we're getting a private web design project he can use for practice, so he could just try and apply. It's well paid, with good working conditions.
And he hasn't started to look for other jobs yet, if you don't count asking me to ask the guy we're doing the website for if they have an open position. The answer was no, but I could've told him that before, given they just employed an intern for a year who will then start a training at their place and don't need more staff. This is really bothering me, as I do want to continue living together with him - and don't want to live on my own for various reasons -, but if he can't be bothered to get a job, moving together probably won't happen. He said he does want to move out and all, but he doesn't think he can do the job right. I wonder if it's fear of failure or just him not wanting to do this.

Do people honestly belive pirating isn't stealing? It most certainly is! The biggest argument is that you arn't taking the origional, your only making a copy, but that's WHAT THEY ARE SELLING! COPIES! You are getting their product for free. That IS stealing.

2. to appropriate without right or acknowledgment.

IT'S STEALING.

I'm not saying don't do it but don't call it something else when it's not.

Yes. Because it's copyright infringement, basically. You can't steal potential sales. I'm not saying it's not as bad as stealing, though. But that doesn't mean they're the same crime.

I am helping you. This is your project. I am not obliged to do anything. Offering to help does NOT mean you can just sit back and wait for me to do all the work. YOU HAVE TO DO SOMETHING YOURSELF. I've told you so. I've said "email me a draft and I'll add anything I can think of". That was my way of saying "do some work yourself, rather than waiting for me to offer up ANOTHER evening in my already painfully busy schedule and do it for you". TAKE THE HINT.

And texting and emailing me all the time addressing me as "my great friend" and telling me what a help I am does not mean you get to take advantage of me. I don't think you mean to; but guess what - you are.

I can't make it this week. I'm sorry that you're stressing out and running out of time. But seriously. This is not what I signed up for and it's time I let you know. If you ask me to come over one more time without having done any work, I'm going to tell you all this to your face too, and hurt your feelings, and feel aweful, but enough is enough.

Technically by taking the music from a cd onto an mp3 player, you are breaking the law and causing copyright issues. But you know, whatever.

Stop trying to staple, like, thirty to forty sheets of paper together with the automatic stapler. It's not built for that and it jams the stapler.

While we're at it, use of the computer labs laser printer does not give you the right to print out a ream of paper worth of stuff. I hate it when I have to print out a three page paper and I have to wait for the person in front of me to finish printing off War and Peace or whatever.

My own personal computer lab rant:
People coming into the computer lab (or student lounge, or whatever), signing onto a computer, and doing nothing with it while doing some homework by hand. Did you just want a comfortable place to sit? There's a table behind you. I want to read my email.
I've found the most effective way to get the message through is to stand directly behind the offender, hands at my sides, breathing heavily.

okay what I am annoyed about.

I was very excited yesterday about How I met Your Mother and Heroes coming back on. TBBT was a plus. My sister invited her BF over to watch and wanted to cook to make it special. I'm the type of person who wants to completely watch something new. I do not like being interrupted and think that talking is for commercials. Now I knew that at 8 it wouldn't really be the premiere so I volunteered to give attention then, but she kept asking me during HIMYM for help with cleaning dishes that she wasn't even using.
Then during Heroes we were eating and watching. My sister and her BF were searching the internet for different chopsticks or whatever and talking. If they don't want to watch that is fine; I just put the TV a little louder and ignore them. But then every once in a while my sister will ask how is someone doing this or why is that happening and I'm telling her wait till commercials.

Am I the only one who believe that talking is for commercials only!? If it is a movie I'll understand that there are no commercials but COME ON! if you want to know what is going on pay attention.
I wanted a signature. I don't know what to put here yet.

You know what? Fuck you, glacial ethanoic acid. Ok, I was a retard for not preparing my reaction mixture in the fume cupboard, I see that. But not only do you smell like vinegar but a hundred times worse, for the two hours AFTER I prepared the mixture, the back of my throat tastes like vinegar. I HATE HAET HAT VINEGAR. And then all throughout the day, my throat is sore from inhaling too much ethanoic acid fumes. And possibly also inhaling ethanol fumes.

You know what? FUCK ORGANIC CHEMISTRY. Fuck all you volatile liquids with acidic, poisonous, toxic or corrosive vapours. FUCK YOU CARBOXYLIC ACIDS. Fuck the alcohols too. And most certainly fuck the ketones. Part of my kitchen has smelt of acetone for days and it's awful.

Don't fuck the esters though. They smell nice. Maybe I should inhale some ester vapours to counteract the acid and alcohol fumes. Fortunately, the reaction mixture I was preparing was an equilibrium making ethyl ethanoate. I'm not sure what kind of yield it gives though, so I guess I'll have to find out (which is uh, kinda one of the points of the assessed practical).

So in conclusion: FUCK YOU CARBON, YOU AND YOUR ANOMALOUS ABILITY TO BOND TO ALMOST ANYTHING.

It's nasty stuff. I was only puring it about for a few minutes near two open windows and yet everyone in the lab (four people, including the technician who was in and out all the time) had a sore throat afterwards, but not for quite as long as I did. Seriously, use the fume cupboard. The only reason I didn't was because I was measuring it by mass rather than volume (because I was stupid and didn't look up its density) and the mass balance lead wouldn't reach into the cupboard.

Goddamnit Internet Explorer. And your refusing to display my flash headers, which work perfectly well under any normal browser.

[Edited for coherence. Internet Explorer is not an operating system!]

As unimaginative as it is, I'm going to go ahead and point out that I get annoyed at people who use the words "your", "you're" and "ur" in the wrong contexts. I know that Noc's post has it right (although it made me do a double-take, because my first thought about that sentence was that it was addressed to Internet Explorer, instead of referencing what it does wrong), but there are so many people who don't use them correctly. And I know you all already know this, I just feel the need to say it.

Is there ever a context in which "ur" is correct?
