Hmm. While it often takes a significant amount of effort to take something unfunny and make it funny, it's much easier to take something funny and make it unfunnny.

I actually think the first one with Diet Coke/Mentos is hilarious. I can't even remember the original punchline, but this is the ideal punchline for that strip, if you see it as a commentary of all the "hype" surrounding this phenomenon...but I guess that's kinda obvious.

Edit for RG's suggestion: link to comic. Also cleaned up some of the artifacts in the image, which I didn't notice the first time around because of lack of colors on remote desktop.

too bad it wouldn't be as funny to people who aren't familiar with the sappiness (as well as failure) of the original.

(Wouldn't she waste more time spinning than she would regain by slowing the rotation, etc.)
