It doesn't work well.

You just copy-paste letters from recent comics and / or old comics, depending on the parody you are doing.

Fellstaff's comic is epic.

Strictly speaking (and I would have it no other way), you did not, as the goal of the exercise is to remove that thing that makes xkcd what it is. Referencing an xkcd joke would, by defenition, not remove the xkcd-ness of the comic, and fail at "making it worse". Like m42a's second one.
