It's raining. I was going to go for a walk, but I don't have any way of keeping myself dry. I could just tear some holes in a garbage bag, but the only garbage bags we have are kinda nice, and I don't want to waste them. So... yeah. I'm going to stay inside and watch SG-1.

You know, I was all ready for a hurricane. We brought all the patio furniture inside, moved our cars to higher ground, and made arrangements to have my Great Grandmother evacuated to a hospice center. We brought out all the board games for when the power went out, too.

And it hasn't so much as rained here.

I mock your misfortune.

Also, my jury duty was canceled. It was supposed to be tomorrow, but now it's not.

I don't know if I'm jaded or just plain stupid, but a tropical storm doesn't worry me in the least. =/

It never worried me, either, until a couple years ago when I lost my bedroom ceiling.

Fay, not Fey. Also not Faye. My wife is happy that for once, there's something with her name on it that's spelled properly.

And we're nowhere near Florida or anywhere else that's going to get hit (unless you count a gentle shower at most), so I'm just commenting on the name.

As a former Floridian, I'm often puzzled by many of the things Virginians freak out about. Seriously, why is everyone up here terrified of fire ants? Do they really justify headlines and warning signs? And everyone wants to know how we always swam in lakes without getting eaten by alligators.

6th grade we had a "hurricane day" off of school. It was a light rainstorm. Can't say I complained, but I was a bit confused at all the panic over some rain.

edit: was in Arlington, Virginia at that time!

Ah, I remember hurricane days. Missing school, boarding up the windows, losing power, and then getting stuck in a dark, hot house for the next few days.

We didn't get any rain of the hurricane day. Kinda a pain in the ass day. Missed the second day of school. No rain at all. It was a little windy and that's it. Kinda stupid. Oh well.

Well, for starters, the storm's been playing hell with my wireless.

Is that the wrong thing to be concerned about right now?
