I, too, know a Richard Head. He owns a dealership here in town.

Eh, I understand her dilemma, what with my own surname also being a word in the English Language. Embrace it and run with it, or remind the person you're speaking to that by age 12 you'd already heard every possible joke variation there was. And the jokes get old. So very, very old.

I used to work with a guy named Richard Packard. He went by Dick. I have also known a Connie Willfahrt and a Jim Fuchs. A friend of mine swears up and down that he used to know a Benjamin Dover.

People always suggest I change my surname to Dover. When I maintain my stone-faced façade, they mistakenly obtain the notion that they must explain.

Yes, exactly.

And there's only so many times that you can glare at them while replying "And what's your name, Smith?"

I am not quite sure if this would be as funny for native English speakers, but let's try.

I once was in a project with a girl, I think from Iran, who had some serious hair on her cheeks. We didn't know her last name until we wrote the report, when we found out her name was al-Zuhairy.

BTW, what's funny about Benjamin Dover?

In case you still don't get it, the name in question is "Ben Dover". Pronounced as is, it sounds like "bend over", which makes sense since it has the exact same lettering.

Then, sexual activity is implied.

The result: a terrible, stand-alone pun.

I should have seen that one. In fact I even know a Benjamin who is sometimes called Benny. But the Bens in my family are all Bernards

Another one: the Dutch word for Parsley is peterselie. I have a friend who swears he knows a guy named Peter Selie, which sadly can only mean that his parents gave him that name on purpose.

There was a psychology teacher in high school called Anda Weir. Apparently she married into the name. I think it was very brave of her. Or it's a longterm psychology experiment.
