Ah, yes. Foreign names.

As you can see from my profile page, I live in Turkey. (and, incidentally, am Turkish.)
Last year, during the general elections, a man called Ufuk Uras was running for president.

Luckily, he didn't win. Even though it would've been amaaazing.

(I had a few of these, but I'm suffering from a black-out.)

Yes, I was about to link to that very same thread as Angell did.

It's about 6 pages or so - you should read through it for some funny names.

There was (or is) a basketball player who played for Barcelona team in Spain. He was Serbian or Czech and had a surname Fucka (pronounced fOOch-kah).

*Gets offended by people laughing at funny names.*

You'll have to do a bit of digging on the forum to find out why.

Not that much digging, I like it.
Persoanlly I like all these silly names and I don't think anyone is laughing at them.
It makes them interesting and unique.

Your name isn't funny, just epically metal.

I believe it's pronounced "oo-fook oo-ras". At least that's how I pronounced it.

Spoiler:
Wankel engine

On that note, we had hilarity last year when dealing with a soap solution, as its 'technical name' is 'Wanklyns Reagent'.

You'll have to do significantly less digging, if you use the 'book.

That name is hundreds of times better than mine. Mine has been distorted, on occasion, to Strap-on.

Oh, I also know someone called Stewart Little. Who is not small, and doesn't look like a mouse.

...coincidentally, I only found out about your name a few hours ago, while looking for something completely unrelated. Pre-emptive digging, maybe?

I know a person called Anil Bangher... needless to say, this guy's name is one vowel away from seriously misfortune.

To be honest, I don't think it's that bad. I wouldn't mind having it; it's better than a generic name that people would forget (E.g. I'd much rather have it than John Smith), but I can see what you mean. Also, as mentioned, it's epically metal.

I met a mad called Randy Fish once, which as a Brit I found amusing.
According to Have I got news for you there's a man called Randy Bumgardner who workes in the whitehouse. Superb.

edit: Meowgan, your name is epic.

Just marry someone. You don't even have to like them. Marry them for the tax and name benefits.

Get a lawyer to come up with some EULA that means that he has to marry you within 3 days or you switch surnames... permanently.

My favorite "hidden meaning" name is Franco Foda. He is a former German soccer player, and his name is Portuguese for "fucking for free".

And there is also an Austrian soccer player called "Adolf Hütter". Unfortunately, in a game against Israel, the stadium announcer did not know how to pronounce the "ü", and chose the worst possible alternative.

My father once worked with a guy who's name was Richard Head. Which would be a perfectly fine name if the nickname for Richard wasn't (inexplicably) "Dick".

That was my funny name that I always felt really sad for. I also once worked for one "Sandy Hill". And that was her name by marriage.

... It's like being named James.

Oh, and to add content (though someone's already replied so if you've already read this post you won't see this) my brother had a friend named... Micheal Hunt.

He preferred Mike.

I wish I was joking. Dude called, left a message, I damn near laughed in his ear. I gave my brother the message later in a "Oh, one of your friends called for you. Said his name was .. well, Micheal Hunt, but I don't.." "Oh, cool, I'll call him back..... *calls* Hey, Mike, what's up?"

Is he a lawyer? Because, my dad has heard of him. (If it wasn't him, then that's just sad...)

There's a girl in my school named Summer Burns. She has a sister named Amber. No joke.

Perhaps I should have been more clear. The name itself is fine; people who make a big deal out of it are idiots. But of all the names you could have had to run for president with, the one connected to a recently executed war criminal is a poor one. Luckily reason prevailed.

XD

My friend told me about these foreign (Swedish, I think) twins, named something akin to Ima Hore and Ura Hore.

Also, Jack Ass. Also, there are a few people named Espn in the world.
