Vote for XKCD!

Postby Freiberg » Tue Jan 06, 2009 5:51 am UTC

There is a poll out there about best comic, and we are losing. Pretty badly too, as of the time of this writing. You know what to do. Vote early and often.

UPDATE: For those of you who do not want to or can't, for whatever reason, read the results on the poll itself, we are down about 400 to Garfield Minus Garfield. VOTE!

UPDATE 2: Good job people, we are now winning 3,187 to 2,890 (our closest competitor; all of the others combined don't add up to ours). Keep up the good work.

Actually we are doing pretty good. I can't believe some people prefer GMG over this.

Ok, so I exaggerated a little. We are still losing.

No Dinosaur Comics, no Buck Godot, no Order of the Stick, no Questionable Content, no Girl Genius.

Seriously, who the hell chose the candidates?

I had a quick look at the ones I did not know: as predicted, xkcd is by far the best one.

I would say it has, but not on the level of xkcd. Anyway, thank you for the bump.

I think it still is, quite often. It's really different though, like different humor. I'm actually unsure whether it's better or worse than xkcd, it's like comparing apples to oranges...

Yes, indeed. I think I might actually argue that xkcd often isn't a comic strip at all, what with the one-panels and the posters.

Dilbert is certainly funny. Maybe it's due to my profession or the whole "office" thing, but yeah.

Also, how do you do a poll for best comic and mix webcomics and print comics but leave out basically all of the heaviest hitters in both.
Totally not a hypothetical...

Now there you go again, blaming me for everything. Why do you blame me for a lousy internet connection, or for using IE7? Why was the curtain fire during the last play I helped out blamed on me? EVERYBODY BLAMES ME JUST BECAUSE IT'S MY FAULT! How unfair.

Actually, I could not get it working with a proxy at school either. I will complain about it to the people who make the website.

I blamed you because you pointed the mass of readers of this fora to the website, maybe causing a spike in traffic (would we have that effect?). And it's not my internet connection or browser, it's just timing out. The weird pages are usually the result of the HTML loading but the CSS or related supporting documents timing out.

You're spamming "Refresh"? Hmm...

You know a less ambiguous title would help. Something like "Vote for xkcd." The current one sounds like you're arguing for one side or the other.

I think there were a couple of funny ones back in the day, but I recently signed up to the RSS feed, and every day I go there and think "How does this get voted 4.5 out of 5?"

GMG OTOH...

xkcd is currently up by over 700 votes.

Am I the only one that thinks it would be really funny if we used our pull here to pick the worst comic and make it win? I mean, the scale of that really wouldn't be that hard, especially since most everyone here has access to 2+ computers.
