Today, I am happy. Why? Because as of today, I'm an honest to god paid writer. Admittedly, it's only one article, and they're not paying me much, but the principal of the thing stands. Plus, I suspect it's going to work out to between eight and fifteen dollars an hour for some fairly interesting work, which ain't bad, all things considered. Beats flipping burgers by a considerable margin.
I can kill you with my brain.

Re: SO MOTHEREFFIN HAPPY Thread :)
Congrats Ati! Everyone has to start somewhere. It's cool to see you have a goal and are achieving it.

This is so damn cool, I don't even know where to start. Congratulations!

Thanks! I'm currently working out some kinks before I ship off the final copy to their editor. It's an article for a humor website, so it's not terrifically challenging, but, as you say, you have to start somewhere. I'm quite pleased that they bought my first pitch. It bodes well for future employment.
I can kill you with my brain.

Humour is fairly underrated, I think. Compared to writing a piece that's genuinely funny, has broad appeal and sustains a reader's interest, writing earnest, erudite essays is positively easy. Don't underestimate the achievement of managing to write humour.

I have tickets to see My Bloody Valentine in Richmond. My Bloody Valentine. One the best and most influential shoegaze bands in the world. I am so pumped.
...I really should look into getting earplugs. I'm told that going to a MBV show without some form of ear protection pretty much guarantees some form of ear damage.

I just had what may well be the best conversation in documented history. Truly, magic was in the room. In fact magic was in the room, twiddling its thumbs, waiting for something useful to do, because the conversation simply did not need its help at all, and was in fact putting it to shame. MAGIC WAS REDUNDANT, PEOPLE.
Words were coined; book recommendations were exchanged; honesty, speculation and wild gesticulation were the order of the day; and my cheeks almost hurt from the strain of such constant laughter. About five hours of it. And also, there are now two Dylan Moran DVDs in my handbag.

My weight has gone down for seven consecutive days for the first time in... my life.
Also, blueberry waffles with blueberry syrup (all made with blueberries that were picked yesterday) is a good way to celebrate.

I totally phoned in my English Lit paper (an analysis of romance and gender/class roles in Chaucer's time based solely on observations of The Canterbury Tales (specifically, the General Prologue, The Knight's Tale, and The Miller's Tale)). We had about 2½ weeks, but I wrote it in a day, and it was only half the length it was supposed to be. And I got an A!!! Also, a new sig!

Got a minor defect or a couple scratches on your iPhone? Pay a 7 year old kid 5 bucks to go in the Apple store and beg the rep for a new one.

Re: SO MOTHEREFFIN HAPPY Thread :)
The student's union of my university has given the scout and guide society more money then we've ever had in our grant application. Woo for having enough money for transport for the first time ever! Last year we got £200 to get people to Edinburgh, this year we've got £300 just to go to Leeds, both from Birmingham. This means we can get six people there for full price trains, or ten with railcards, or more if we book in advance. We might actually get more people then just the five we always get going to everything!

So I was at Publix today, and thought I'd get some ice cream. They had whole rows of vanilla, chocolate, etc. But down at the bottom was a single carton of "Mackinac Island Fudge Ice Cream." Not only was it the only one, there wasn't even a row for it, nor a price tag. Also, when I removed it from the freezer I heard a choir of angels. Until today, I thought the only way to get Mackinac fudge was to go to Michigan (which would be totally worth the 1,400 mile trip)—I hadn't had it since I was there 16 years ago.
Seriously, if you've never had Mackinac fudge, you've never had fudge at all. It even has its own website!

Fess: I have never been to Mackinac Island. Despite the fact that I spent a whole summer working at a camp, like, right there on the shore of Lake Huron. Even on the day pretty much everyone at the camp went to Mackinac, I decided to stay behind and, basically, enjoy having the whole camp to myself and the rest of the crew that stayed behind.
And, to bring this post back on topic, that summer was the MOST MOTHEREFFIN' HAPPY summer of my whole life. Most definitely.

I don't think my life could be more perfect right now.
I managed to get accepted to the university college (I believe that is the correct term for it) I wanted. Digital Visualisation, 2 years, I think it's gonna be just what I'm looking for. With some crazy luck I managed to find a place to live, only 5 minutes walk away from the college area. I'll be sharing a house with 7 other people, making moving out less scary.
Spoilered for big picture.
Last, but not least, for the first time in my life I find myself having a girlfriend. I'm not sure why everything is working out perfectly for me all of a sudden, but I'm sure as hell not going to complain about it

Re: SO MOTHEREFFIN HAPPY Thread :)
I am, for the first time in MONTHS, officially SO MOTHEREFFIN HAPPY.
I am relocating across the country (from Denver, CO to Pittsburgh, PA, via Buffalo, NY for a week) and I am SO happy to be out of the bad situation I was in in Denver, and even more incredibly happy to be with the guy I am with out here and he is basically the most amazing guy I think I ever could have met.
And I'd totally get gushy at this point, but it all boils down to me being SO MOTHEREFFIN HAPPY.
