Furries

Postby Khizrael » Wed Apr 08, 2009 9:26 pm UTC

We love 'em, we hate 'em, we either want to set them on fire, leave them the hell alone, or join them.

So who here is a furry? I am, and have seen one or two others around here (if anyone mentions Felltir I'll disembowel them with a cake slice).

Apologies if thread has been made before, I did a search, and couldn't find another one.

EDIT: Opinions on furries are viable here as well.

I'm a furry. I'm not super open about it to people I know in person, but it's there. And I think some furries are awesome and some of them scare the fuck out of me. So basically the opinion I hold of the rest of the population.
There's a method to my madness. Somewhere. Don't worry, I'll find it!

While not personally a furry myself I have yet to have the misfortune of running into one of the "bad" furries. Y'know, the ones that make the whole group look bad. I've been told that's because I do not live in Silicon Valley (AKA: Furryville) but still, I've run into a few furries and conventions and such and so far they've all seemed pretty cool. I don't trouble myself with judging people based on their hobbies or on what society thinks they do in their spare time I think it's something we'd all be better off doing. After all, it isn't hurting us.

Huh, didn't know that Silicon Valley was 'furryville.' that's weird because i live pretty close to there. Whatever though, it's all good what people want to do, as long as their not trying to force it others. That said i think the cat/tiger girl thing is pretty damn sexy, but that's about as far as I go though into that territory.

Yeah, as others have said, no-one gets hurt, so I've no problem. Not into it myself, but if others are, that's cool.

No-one does get hurt, right? I don't know anything about furies.

Watch the southpark episode about Cartman's christmas story, that pretty much sums it up. (I mean, REAL animals obviously can't talk, so they must have been furries.)

I enjoy furrydom just as much as I enjoy everything else. I suppose I could be called a Furry as much as a Trekkie, Star Wars Nerd, etc.

I ain't buying no fursuit, though.

No, we hunted all our furries into extinction when they banned fox hunting.

I have intercepted a rogue band of Scottish furries and will report back once I have made contact with them. I intend to learn their ways, mate with their women and then place them in large reservations.

Depends on whether you consider it a sexual fetish or just...well, I assume there's a non-sexual component to it, but I don't know anything about furries (furrism?) so I'm going to handball this post to the next person who posts in this thread to finish for me. Catch!

/me catches and goes for the dead ball zone*

The gods at wikipedia have decided that furry fandom does indeed have a non-sexual component to it, and is in fact mostly focused on non-sexual things (they only give yiffing one paragraph) so it does indeed belong here.

The point must be made that it isn't just a fetish! Of course, for plenty of people it is, but as whatshisname said, to lump all furries into the 'pervert' column would be like lumping all the bankers into the 'asshole' column. As in, it looks like they should all be in there, and everyone thinks it, but the truth is that most of them aren't.

I would wear a fursuit. For the lulz. Never buy one, though - couple of grand for something like that? Hell naw, I'd buy a car. However, tail and ears, I would, can, have, and will wear.

I have a question for the furries here: Do furries, as a definition, sincerely, genuinely believe that they are somehow for unexplained reasons attuned or in a way connected to a specific type of animal?

I know a furry, and he claims that he feels as if he were meant to be a wolf, but are trapped in the body of a human. Exactly like transvestites describe themselves as trapped in the other gender's body.

I find the subject interesting.

People felt that way long before the idea of a Furry was codified. Not saying it's not interesting, just saying it's not something specific to the Furry group.

Hell, probably felt by some people who wouldn't self-identify as a Furry in the first place.

On the other hand, you could probably argue that the animalistic witch doctors of the past (and present tribal societies) are furries.

Yes, yes. It's a silly thought. That doesn't keep it from making just an iota of sense, though!

But that's not furry, is it?

I suppose it really depends on how you're defining Furry - whether it's just a fascination with animals that are animals, or if they have to be anthropomorphic.

Offshoot of it. Reptile or Scaly would be the name.

So Furries are waiting for a hoofed blue alien with no mouth, four eyes and a tail to crash in a construction site, give them the ability to morph into an animal, then they stay as that animal for more than 2 hours so they can be it forever?

I do.

Can someone here explain to me the hate toward furries? Every so often someone'll yell (ok type in caps) in a forum or an ingame chat/IRC 'yiff in hell furfag!' and I just dont get it, occasionally I ask why they hate furries and all I get is 'its just wrong!' Which is pretty much the reason people come out with for hating gays/lesbians/bondage etc.

Like I said I dont get it, is it just that anything from outside the experience of these people is wrong? there upbringing? do they feel they'll never be able to watch another disney movie without perverted (and thats a whole other topic right there) thoughts? Should I really give a damn what makes these people tick?
The only time I question the right to Free Speech is when I watch Fox News, probably due to the fact that I don't think they really believe in it. -Elisa Scaldaferri
