Kacie Kinzer has unleased human-like robots on Central Park. These robots have their destination displayed on a flag and rely on pedestrians to point them in the right direction. Her website contains a video and photos of the public's interactions with these critters. Definitely worth a look.

This is really cool. For a while, I seriously considered doing this myself, and if I somehow manage to get hold of the stuff necessary to build this I will consider again.

(and here's the link again, since it'll probably be removed)

Hm... reminds me of geocaching, but more public, sort of. Cool nonetheless.
Has this been done anywhere else?

that's one of the most adorable things I've ever seen.

If i came across one of those at a park, i'd probably steal it for myself, which would ruin the whole thing.

That's amazing. One of my friends showed me that last night :D

If I ever saw one with it's destination I'd pick it up and walk it over there to safety. ^.^

D'aaaaaaaaaaaaw. :3
It's great that people helped out a random smiling cardboard robot. I hope there's more social experiments!
There's more coming up. I'm definitely going to follow this site.

That is the most awesome thing I've seen in a long time.

I wonder if people would help it if it didn't have that adorable smiley face...

I think the adorable smiley face helps a lot. It's so cute and little!

I want one.

I would probably ruin it by stealing it and reverse-engineering it and making more identical ones. With my name inside.

Would it be offtopic if I asked how many would help a hobo cross the street?

I'd definitely help the robot, it's cute as hell. It's begging for someone to give it GPS and maybe some form of communication to track it live.

Fools!! Don't you realize it, these "tweenbots" are absolutely nothing more than Daleks in disguise. By helping them, you are undermining your own species!

But on topic(ish), I would so steal this thing...and then hide it in a really hard to get spot...and igve it a sign that says "SAVE ME!!!" Am I cruel?
