Plans for the weekend!

Postby Zohar » Thu May 07, 2009 1:08 pm UTC

Couldn't find a thread for this and I thought it could be nice to see what plans people have.

This weekend, actually, isn't very interesting. Tomorrow morning I have an appointment at my therapist (2nd one). Then I have to drive to my grandparents alone (about 1.5 hours away), drive them back here and have my mother's memorial service. This will probably take up my time until the late afternoon. Apart from that, I need to meet a friend to talk about our moving in plans, because some complications have occurred. I'll also probably watch a movie (The new ST or Wolverine).

What are you going to do?

Friday night I have gloriously off, which is rare for me. Saturday is a friend's 30th birthday party (crap I have no idea what to get him still), and we're staying over as it's in Surrey. Sunday my church is having a braai (which is like a barbeque but not lame :) ). That's it, really.

One of my friends is coming into town after several months of not being able to visit, so we'll probably round up the usual crew and do something fun. Also the Star Trek movie comes out so I will probably be making a trip to the theater. And it's supposed to be a sunny May weekend, so that means pool time!

Zohar, my condolences about your mother. *hugs*

On another note: Skip Wolverine, it was disappointing, unless you are in the mood for headache-inducing comedy. Go for Star Trek.

I'm starting a couple of presents for people. Possibly baking some cookies/brownies. Watching far too much Stargate.

Driving. Not anywhere in particular. I very recently bought my first ever car, and am still loving the illusion of freedom that driving atround gives me. Whack a Muse CD in the player and pound down the motorway in an cheap, ancient, faded red, vauxhall astra. Nothing better.

I'm a tree hugger, but driving is a genuine pleasure.

This weekend I'm going to see an exhibition with this sort of thing. (Warning: scary Japanese woodblock-style image in spoiler)

Studying for tests :(

I have five AP tests next week, each about 3-4 hours long:

Biology
English Language
Microeconomics
Macroeconomics
Spanish Literature

The material isn't terribly difficult, but I need to ace the tests so I can pass out of introductory courses in college (I'm a junior in high school right now).

My weekend will go something like this:

Friday evening - having a bbq with some friends on the beach. If the weather stays good that is.
Saturday - nothing in particular, that I know of yet.... Hopefully something will come up. Maybe go sandboarding or for a motorbike ride...
Sunday - go into school to get my coursework and make final corrections.

Hmm, one of those days sounds a lot less fun than the others.....

edit: ooh! I forgot: yesterday/today signified that I have been with my girlfriend for 11 months, so we agreed to go to the zoo on Saturday so that should be fun :).

Is that an exhibition of Hiroshige's stuff, dubs? I absolutely love ukiyo-e woodcut prints.

This Friday i'm going out to a work do for a few drinks and will see where the night will lead. I am determined to use Saturday and Sunday to work on the pre-production for my short film.

Friday - The judging for the high school art show which I've been the organizer for is on Friday morning. After that - no plans.
Saturday - Opening for the art show is Saturday night. Having dinner with the grandmother, then will be at the opening the rest of the evening.
Sunday - Brunch with the family + grandma. Perhaps boating or similar? Then I think we'll take mom to see Star Trek for mother's day.

not clean up my house like I should be
not clean up my yard like I should be
not do laundry like it should be
not do anything productive at all
probably just be bored and screw around all weekend, waste time, pretend like I might actually get something done, drink, live on the computer as usual, and sleep.

pretty typical weekend for me, I might eat...

Five-hour drive to St. Louis for the Nightwish concert tomorrow night, which should kick more ass than...well, pretty much anything I've seen or done in the last several years. :)

On Saturday...dunno, probably kill some time in a casino down there before making the five-hour drive back, and then I'll probably just hang out with my girlfriend on Sunday or something.

Today: early finish, visit dad, flute lesson, get parcels for present exchange, first coat of paint
Saturday: Second coat in the morning or visit dad, first in-venue rehearsal of musical (this could get messy)
Sunday: Kirk (both kinds*), possibly family luncheon, second coat if not done already. Box up presents. Last minute homework.

*kirk can also mean church in my house, and we're going to go see Star Trek for Mother's Day

Friday: Swing dance
Saturday/Sunday: Packing (aka procrastinating). I'm moving to a new place at the end of the month and will be on vacation for a week and a half beforehand, so this is my last weekend before I actually move.

Tomorrow I get to take my neurotic, vicious dog to the vet to get a rabies vaccine.
Then I'm going to the mountains. Hurrah.

Friday night: Out to eat with family.
Saturday: Wake at noon, make hashbrowns and pancakes and eggs and bacon for eating thing around 1. Read. Internet. Open up various electronics (I'm making a NES controller beltbuckle, I'm trying to get it to beep when buttons are pressed. And ideas?). Spend 2-3 hrs in a small space epoxying things together.
Sunday: Sleep at 2AM. Wake at noon. Make some noodle soup, eat it, watch TV, read. Shower, read, fiddle with electronics, internet, chores, internet.

You total bastard - give me your ticket!

Saturday my mum's coming up to visit with my sister, so I'm going to show them the city and generally scab money off them for as long as I can manage, and on Sunday I'll do the mother's day thing and lavish her with attention, and a signed copy of Peter Singer's new book. Tonight, though, I plan to FINALLY finish Ocarina of Time. It's been *years* in the making.

Tonight - post-work gym, then home for pizza (gotta maintain that balance!) and an early night as my SO is at work early in the morning.
Saturday - lie-in, a run, housework, some Rome: Total War, then off to a friends for a poker party.
Sunday - hangover, lie-in, hopefully meet the guys from my band for a jam, or see friends if the weather's good.

A weekend that involves Nando's is good in my book.

This weekend, I'm going to my cousin's Holy Communion on the saturday. Watching the football and lazing about on the Sunday. So it's rosary beads, prayer, food and alcohol for me this weekend!

Reggae night in the Angel tonight, proof-reading thesis and playing in boats for the remainder of the weekend. Apart from Saturday night, which will probably involve beer. I think I might be in less than three with beer.

Plan 1 - Do whatever wife needs me to do to finish the studio.
Plan 2 - Mow. Assuming it doesn't fucking rain again, which it does every time I have the time to mow.
Plan 3 - Die. Well, not really. More of just sleep for a while. Sleepy sleep. Sleep.

My plan is:
1) To go through all the PDF files and references for my essay on "How effective is CCTV in the detection and reduction of crime?" which shouldn't be too bad as I've allready had to write essays on CCTV before in my past 6 years of sociological study.
2) Probably start writing the damn thing
3) Get my excercise regime going again. By regime I mean "do 30 minutes on the step machine thingy". I may be a big beer bellied bugger, but I've got calves like a cross country runner
4) See Star Trek with my friend, his dad, my mum and another mate. Why bringing the parent? Well because my mum won't bloody go on her own and I know she'll like it at the cinema so I figured it would be a nice treat. (that and she is my only living relative for a 6000 mile radius)
5) Go to my ex-girlfriends party at the "local" I usually frequent when back home. That shouldn't be awkward seeing as we both like each other.
6) Check Manchester Uni to see if they do a masters course in Photojournalism.
7) Actually take some photos this weekend as apposed to "oh I wish I brought my cameras with me"

Well so far weekend is going fine. Psychologist appointment was interesting, I had fun picking up my grandparents (I spoke with my grandma all the way back), the memorial was nice, as was going back to my aunt's house and hanging out with the other family members.
