I watched The Wizard of Oz yesterday with a really good friend with an absurd amount of lovely food before us, delivered. One of the many awesome things about that is we saw so many things that had been forgotten over the years. I had it on video as a kid and watched it an insane amount of times. And now years later, it is still such a spectacle! It is fucking awesome.

Also, entering the international screenwriting competition today for a trip to New Zealand to direct my own three minute flick with a hundred thousand dollars and crew and world class post production facilities and all that. Just entering was so much fun. (your-big-break.com for anyone interested in writing 'n entering a three minute movie). Or just to read some entries and watch some Peter Jackson interviews. Awesome!
As far as we can discern, the sole purpose of human existence is to kindle a light of meaning in the darkness of mere being.

You know whats awesome? .NET. It gives you, like, everything you could ever want to do on your computer from a programming standpoint, plus it does it with ease and completeness. Kudos to Microsoft on at least one count.

I have nightmares about trying to program using the Win API. Doing the same thing in .NET makes me go "...really? that's it?"

It totally is! Plus, if you use Visual Studio or SharpDevelop, you can drag and drop controls for your GUI and then just write the code behind! Genius!

Plugging a mouse into a laptop is pretty cool so you don't have to use the pad.

Awesome: my insulin resistance seems to be declining, meaning my blood sugar levels aren't monstrously high any more, and is an indicator that I may be losing weight (I don't have scales). Downside: more hypos.

I made it through 2 hours of highway driving through two separate snowstorms with practically zero visibility. And my dad thinks I'm a bad driver. :D

I am snuggled at home with my laptop and some Amarula, and I've lost some weight. I've already put $200 away as part of my NY's resolution to save money and pay off my mini-credit cards.
Spoiler:
On the not so awesome side, I bought jeans recently that don't fit now because of said weight loss. :/

I got back my PSAT results, finally! I got the email from college board like a month ago saying "oh hey you can access your college quickstart" and I was like "cool" and then it was like "wait no you need your paper results" and I was sad.
Now I'm not!

Yay! I got my SAT scores back today. Also, last Friday school was on a scheduled closed day, Monday-Thursday were snow days (snowstorm, wheee!), today was a 2 hour delay, and Monday we're off! Hooray!

Just had pork chops for dinner. Pork chops (the one seasoned with salt and pepper and coated with flour, no artificial ingredients) are AWESOME.

Whoah, hey, sometimes I'm actually pretty good at art/sculpture in specific!

I've been working on a clay bust for... a bit over a month now and it's finally starting to come together. I mean, technically it's supposed to be a self-portrait, and technically it was due over two weeks ago, but fuck it. I'm going to leave this class with something awesome to show for it.

Wait, awesome: I've "found" 3 hats in TF2 in the past two weeks. They appear randomly, with something like a 2% chance to get one every 4 hours. Until recently I'd only found one in the year or so since they were added to the game, and that one (unlike the 3 new ones) was for a character I never use. Plus I just finished collecting enough less-valuable stuff to "craft" a fifth hat. So yeah, pretty crazy.

Having been there I can tell you you probably like the IDE most, and have possibly used Java. There's other stuff out there that might be more appropriate for particular projects and you should give it all a try. Don't lock yourself into one framework.

Awesome:
I co-chaired a committee to put on a formal for Honors council at my university. Because we have something of a history of throwing really unpopular dances, everybody was kind of nervous about it/against the idea, but oh man. So many people came, and everybody I talked to (including my really awkward D&D friend who was coerced into coming) had a great time.

Also skidded off the road in the snow a few days ago on the way to take my friends to Goodwill. No damage to my car, and everybody behind me stopped to let me rearrange myself. Thanks, Iowa drivers!

This weekend at my church I was running the light board, which did all of the cool light stuff =). I've been doing this for a while, so it was going well, until the entire board crashed and froze. I couldn't change the lights, which created a problem. We managed to restart the board without causing much of a problem, but it still was nerve racking. The pastor who was preaching gave a small message, but during the announcements and offering another pastor gave a more in depth explanation and thanked us, with people applauding. It felt really nice to be appreciated and made my day. Usually we do stuff in the background, so it was nice to have that when we fixed a potentially huge issue =). Really made my day and was awesome.

That is awesome. In my church I'm mostly in the band, but sometimes I work vision, which means I'm in charge of the slides which show the words to the songs, and while this isn't a huge deal, and I'm happy to work in the background, its nice when people appreciate that if there was no one there, there'd be no words! And if no one bothered to make slides, we'd be back on overheads and the three legged portable overhead projector :P. A light hearted "Hey the words were right this week!" really makes my day :).

In other awesome news, a friend of mine is flying in Krispy Kremes from interstate as a fund raiser! There are none in my state and this is a big deal. Mmmmm Krispy Kremes. Also also, first post after about eight months, hooray for having my own computer. Awesomeness all round.

In high school I had to read 'The Hot Zone' for a class. The teacher gave a few options to earn credit. One being a book report, of course. One option, though, was to make a game. So a friend and I made a game. It involved capturing monkeys and fighting off ebola and such. It was awesome. We still joke about our teacher breaking that out on the weekend and playing it with friends.
