You play Diplomacy? Any interest of playing a online game? I haven't played in so long, I *almost* forget how to...

I'm in if this ever happens. Me, my brother, and his friends have long tournaments that are never finished all the time.

OK, I concede defeat. Other cool "q" words:

quassia (type of tree)
quassin (major component of above, very bitter and used in treating fevers)
quillaia (yet another tree - am i catching on a theme here?)
quintan (recurring every fifth day)
quinsy (actually I think I'll name my first born son this. means a peritonsilluar abscess.... )

OK, so who's sitting here with his copy of Dolrand's Illustrated Medical Dictionary (28th Ed) open to the "Q"s? Not me, nope nope nope...

Two licence plates I saw on the way home: BABE 462 and APWN 349 . I laughed - gotta love Ontario plates....wonder if the second driver posts here? (and no, I didn't see who was driving the first car.....)

Like they say, you can have two out of three... sleep, study/work, social life, or you can have xkcd.

rational thought > emotion
what the hell? the highs are totally worth the lows. rational thought... well, if i thought rationally, i would be a very different person. no drama? what do you talk about? dramas are, provided we are not too closely involved in them, one of the most fun things around. it's way better to have girl trouble than no girl trouble, because in my experience no girl trouble = no girls around. and that's no way to live at all.
see, without my remark, you would never have stirred the beast of music that is emo-funk fusion. distorted guitars and people saying 'babylon' every so often. it's ON!

Because if I go on my emotions, then nothing gets accomplished except people screaming at each other. :/ I kind of have a temper, you know?

And the drama I'm talking about is high school drama. Oh me yarm SHE LOOKED AT MY BOYFRIEND LIKE SHE MIGHT KIND OF WANT HIM; I'M SO GOING TO SLAP HER. OHMIGOD I THINK I MIGHT BE PREGNANT. That shit. I hate it. A lot. There is far too much of it.

yeah. thats bad drama, but keeping track of who your friends are going out with and why is also important. even if it means that you know when to offer support, or when not to be an arse to them.
but fair enough, crap drama is crap no matter which way you look at it. this is why i select friends who aren't inclined to fits of 'Oh me yarm PREGGERS!'

So, new guy here. The important stuff to say about me is;
-Not much to say about me (which is something to say about me at least)
-20 years of age
-Comes from Norway
-Going to start studying mathematics at the university this fall
-Is a sucker for philosophical, ethical, moral and political discussions
-Spends way too much time on his computer
-Has been known to paraglide occasionally

I have had hats. I have loved hats. However, just as soon as I really put my trust in a hat, it abandons me, whether it be by jumping off of my head out of a moving car, or simply leaving in the middle of the night without a word. Someday, I may find the hat for me...but I doubt it.

This is why you never trust a hat.

Hi, my name is Dan. I reside in the affluent suburbs of Fairfax City, a Nothern Virginian town 12 miles south of DC. I like music and books and comics and forums and roflcat.com. I hope i'm not outwitted on this forum, but i'm afeared that just may be the case. Either way, i crave your acceptance.

Hi, I'm not a spambot, cheers.

Oh and 25/male/The Netherlands, wanna make out?

OKay, I'll play along. Otherswise I'd just be more of a human spambot I guess. That's a nice tie in with my hobby (or hobby to be, I don't do all that much with it, I guess it's mostly just dreaming. And one day I'm going to find myself saying, "Hey, what happend to my dream? Oh well got this job to finish...." But I digress...), namely AI.

I read a posting in some other thread and recognized myself in the description of a wealthy metro-sexual, that's probably my more optimistic side talking. The other side says I'm more of docile, nice guy without a social life. The two don't exlude each other...

The subjects that get me to post something are useless "God-discussions", American politics (I'm not American) and things I'm knowledgeable about (subtle difference).

I'd love to mingle with you people here on xkcd. From what I've read, it seems a really cool forum.

As my first random act today, I finally stopped lurking and decided to say hi.

HI

Secondly, I leave trails on the internets that a blind lemur could track, so there should be next to no problem figuring me out, there should be pictures of me floating around out there, praise for whoever finds them.

Intro

Postby SubReal » Thu May 24, 2007 3:35 pm UTC

So here I introduce myself. I haven't posted in a forum for years now, but today's strip http://www.xkcd.com/c267.html inspired me to do something like this again.

I tried to find out for how long I read xkcd and found that http://cosmicvariance.com/2006/08/07/comic-monday/ brought it to my attention. Really love it since them!

I am doing physics in Germany and noticed that here at my institue xkcd seems to get more and more popular. Quite a few people have printout of xkcd strips posted at their doors and walls.

Hey, all!

New newb here. :D (Yep, not "n00b", I read the Guide to the forums!)

Let's see. I'm a Pisces, I enjoy long walks on the beach...

... kidding of course, I don't even know what astrological sign I am. (Feel free to use that as the next "off-topic branch" in this thread.)

Seriously, I just recently discovered xkcd, and I love the comic. I'm a math geek who burned out in a blinding display of motivational flames just before finishing my Master's thesis, happily married w/ no kids, working as a programmer but trying desperately to get away, and I spend much of my free time playing the old Descent series of PC games with an online group.

I'm a pretty steady forum-goer (mostly on sites run by the Descent community, including one of my own), so I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!
