I'm guessing the mandlebrot blood stain pointed towards the museum?

I officially love this thread.

Piccy and backstory:
Spoiler:
sameoldshorthairedme.jpg
The most dramatic haircut I've ever had! EVER!
I got the haircut just a couple weeks ago on a whim; I actually dragged one of my classmates/friends to the little salon near our school, and specifically instructed the stylist to give me a "David Tennant haircut" (in a country that probably doesn't even know who the man is... lucky I just so happened to have brought a Doctor Who DVD set with me at the time :wink:) Much hilarity ensued.

It looks good. Maybe I should actually try some of the things I've been meaning to do with my hair. Specifically dying or mohawking. Since I fall under the "Long-haired cute geek boys" category (and have posted in the thread, go find me!) I think it'd be fun to try and give myself a huge mohawk just for kicks.

And yes, adventures are good for you!

I've done that before, except I was 14 and I told her to give me a Sailor Mercury haircut. Needless to say, 2D hair didn't translate as well to 3D as I would have liked, and my story didn't turn out nearly as well as yours...

As a general rule, it's not such a bad thing to plead.

Fair point, but it makes little sense to plead that at this very moment. Meh.

No need to cry, you could always start your own thread for long or medium haired cute geek girls. I think you would find very little opposition if you did.

Since getting into the queer community a lot more, I'm starting to really like the short hair on girls look.

Yay for queer hairstyles :)

I approve of this thread! But wouldn't we need a long haired cute geek girls thread (and short haired cute geek boys thread respectively) also?

We have the post your photo thread for everything else.

Actually, technically, we have the post your photo thread for both the previous ones, but I'm fine with highlighting short haired girls and long haired boys, since both are considered out of the norm hair styles for each gender respectively.

(In other words, a long haired girl/short hair boy is the norm, and can be adequately represented by the base photo thread)

I'm not loving the mild association some of you are mentioning of short hair styles and queer girls. Let's try to avoid delving into the realm of stereotypes, here.

Eh, I don't really think so. Short hair on guys and long hair on girls tends to be pretty common. So common in fact that when I worked at a summer camp a few years ago some of the 5 year olds I was working with asked me if I was a girl. To which I responded, "No, I'm a boy. Some boys have long hair too". To which they responded (in 5 year old fashion) "No, you're a girl! Only girls have long hair!"

Some of my female friends who have short hair had the same sort of problem with the kids insisting they were boys. Reasoning with kids is next to impossible.

shoelessschuler wrote:I'm not loving the mild association some of you are mentioning of short hair styles and queer girls. Let's try to avoid delving into the realm of stereotypes, here.

Let's use logic proof symbols here just to make my explanation more simple. I don't think anyone's saying either of these:

Short hair-->Lesbian

or

Lesbian-->Short hair

But there ARE a lot of women with short hair in the gay community. Why? Because at least initially it was a way of setting oneself apart from heteronormative society. However, it caught on with other women because it looks good. It's just like saying that a lot of male hippies have long hair. Now does that mean every male hippy has long hair? No! Does it mean every guy who has long hair is a hippy? Certainly not!

Pointing out trends is not the same as stereotyping. Making sweeping generalizations like "women with short hair are lesbians", yeah, that's stereotyping.

I'm talking about more recent American history here, not going back to Ye Olde Tymes Of Yore. Because there are plenty of examples of the opposite throughout history. "Flappers" for example, or any males living before the past few centuries.

EDIT: AGGGGH! Double post! I meant to add this to my previous post....

I didn't say that anyone was necessarily stereotyping here, I asked people to avoid it.

I enjoy being a lesbian with short hair. I like my partner's short hair.

I was more commenting on Virtual_aardvark (because I know she's gay).

This is about a year ago. I had two long bang things in the front, while the back was cut very short. I've let my hair grow since then.
