OK, maybe it's just me being only sixteen years old, but I only realized two weeks ago that the goblin king from The Labyrinth is played by David Bowie. My mind was blown that I had never seen that before. And I've seen that movie a good 200 times.

You.. probably weren't ever looking at his face. It's okay, though. Everyone gets distracted by the power of Bowie's crotch.

Sadly, it wasn't him. There was a fella (Michael Moschen, I think) stood behind/under him being all twirly.

I used to practice with those little ceramic balls that have the bells inside them trying to emulate that scene. That's freaking talent.

The Guy from The Message is also in Angel (as a different character than in Buffy).
Wash is in Dollhouse, as is Faith, Fred, Wesley, and Penny again.
And of course, Mal/Evil Preacher Man is Captain Hammer.
AND iirc the guy who plays D'Hoffryn in Buffy is in Angel and Firefly as well, but I could be mistaken.

No, that's big star actors in the 1940s-50s (fun fact: Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were the founders of the original Rat Pack before Sinatra and co. took over).

broken_escalator is thinking of the "Frat Pack", the late 1990s-2000s actors - Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, etc.

Not to be confused with the Brat Pack, teen movie stars from the '80s that appeared in a lot of John Hughes films. Or the Splat Pack, group of directors in the 2000s that have produced a lot of torture porn movies.

I'm a journalist, I consume media faster than I can produce it. I read about it in a TIME magazine article about the trend in torture porn. Can't say I'm a fan.

Thank God - it's not just me. Torture porn: the cheap thrill of sadistically brutalizing our own children! Sorry, explain to me why that's entertaining? You want sadistic pain? Watch the news.

It gives me nightmares and makes showering a dreaded activity. Maybe I'm just getting dementia in my old age or something. But torture porn and the like - even just descriptions of it, I don't actually need to see it - is capable of poisoning my daily functioning existence. I do my best to avoid it.

You want sadistic pain? Play "Psychobilly Freakout".

Torture porn is for people who enjoy crushing things smaller than they are for giggles.

Now, I'll admit to enjoying hurting *those* people...but I'm naughty.

Orson Scott Card had a very interesting essay as an intro to one of his books(Maps in a Mirror, maybe?) that discussed this. He essentially talked about how in the past, movies (Hitchcock films for example) scared you by creating suspense. You would feel yourself in the shoes of the protagonist, and be apprehensive about what happens next. He contrasted that to current movies, which are rightly described as torture porn.

I really don't like it. Snuff films have become mainstream. I am surprised there haven't been real life deaths shown on the big screen.

You're using 'snuff' wrong. Snuff is when they're actual murders.

Intentionally and delightfully so.
