You might want to check Stickies before you moan

Postby Noetherlite » Tue Mar 23, 2010 3:00 pm UTC

*points at Title* Not just good advice generally, but specifically because this (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34697) is happening.

In short, as thanks/destress for constantly cleaning up our whiny shit and mispostings, the m.ods are getting to abuse their powers however they see fit for a week.

Yes, it's pretty damn irritating if you don't know about it, but you need to enjoy it for what it is I suppose. Sit back and watch the show.

E.DIT: This mainly means f.ilter abuse, such as d. becoming consarn above. Use your preview button - I'm thinking about compiling a list of the f.ilter changes but I worry that the capricious whims of our newly empowered angry overlords might view it as spoiling the fun :P.

You could compile a list and then post it afterward? I have no problem with the crazy shenanigans, but I'd love to know what was changed to what. For teh lulz, ya know?
I wanted to see the universe, so I stole a Time Lord and ran away. And you were the only one mad enough.

There should be a group of Mo.derators called 'Capricious Whims', whose job it is is to mess all pixie-like with regular foru.mites, and the Moder.ators can try to compete to stop them. Very Greek Go.d-esque, I think...

As awesome as that would be, I doubt the mods would like moar stuff to clean up when this goes back to normal.

Cool. I'll migrate this to it's own thread when there's a few more words on it.

f.ilter = cheesegrater
m.od = mod
g.od = Jehova
s.martphone = stupidheadphone (oddly, not a f.ilter on just smart)
h.ammer = f.jafjan

And, in fact, the m.ods seem to have cycled all their names in the f.ilter
LE4dGOLEM = lanicita = Felstaff = phlip = Hawknc = jestingrabbit = gmalivuk = etc...

E.DIT: = EDIT:
a.lso = also
f.uck = fook
d.amn = damn

Given how useful all the current fi.lter changes are to having a normal post/conversation I think we're halfway there anyway :P ...

what filters to PENGUINS!!! ?

viewtopic.php?p=2067273#p2067273

(quote under spoiler for context and incase the filter changes)

Spoiler:
kevmus wrote:Here's a video that is relevant to the opt-out system: (start at about 5:00 if you're going to tl:dr it)
http://www.ted.com/talks/dan_ariely_ask ... sions.html

Here's the relevant part:

Countries and percent organ donors:

Denmark: 4%
Netherlands: 28%
UK 17%
Germany 12%
-------------------
Austria 100%
Belgium 98%
France 100%
Hungary 100%
Poland 100%
Portugal 100%
Sweden 86%

What's the main difference bewteen the countries above the line and those below it? The ones below are opt-out, the ones above are opt-in.
ALSO YOU GUYS:, the Netherland's 28% is after sending a personal letter to every household begging people to join. The video goes into more detail as to why opt-out increases the PENGUINS!!! rate so much, but I say that more countries should try. There's no religious/discriminatory/cheating here: Anyone who wants to be a jerk can put the check in the box that says "Don't save lives with my junk after I'm dead".

And it works, according to this (rather limited) dataset.

The penguins is not actually a cheesegrater. I just hope it fooled someone.

I feel I should be able to figure it out by the context but I has teh dumb and can't :(

I've got a pretty good idea which mod is responsible for these... although he forgot Leicester (Lesta) and Derby (Darby)

Clever! (to me, anyway)

So, anyway, as discovered by TaintedDeity: hug.s-->encircling-arm squeezes.

Edit: More! huma.n-->mon-keigh. US.A and some similar phrases-->Freedomville, while Americ.a-->Jesus Land.

The end of the week (wee.k--another filter) is going to be crazy!

Even more: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday-->Mōnandæg, Twosday, Wōdnesdæg. Also a poster., Thorsday, Frīgedæg, dies Saturni, and Sunnandæg, respectively. But note that Wed. would not be saying ALSO YOU GUYS:, and would only say "Als.o".

One more! Canad.a-->Mooseville
