Wind waker theme with a literal one man band.

Even if you don't know the original music (like me), it's still very cool.

I've never watched a single episode of any Star Trek series, and only watched one film when i was forced to (I think Spock died, whatever). Generally, when I come across its fandom, I am filled with hate, and yet, even I, jaded as I am, have to admit that that video is pretty darn awesome.

I will not build you a truck!

Postby Forum Viking » Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:36 am UTC

Anyone who has watched TV lately has probably seen the latest batch of Ford commercials, in which the narrator says
" I figure the engineers who built this truck are the same guys we all cheated off of in science class... while we were thinking about pizza, they were thinking about aerodynamic wake properties..." (watch it here.)

I believe I speak for us all when I forcefully proclaim:

I will not, under any circumstances, ever, build you a truck!

(Post something of an affirmative nature if you agree)

Interesting the lack of indignation on anyone's part, not the "dumb guys" or the "engineers" seem to have noticed.

Why wouldn't an engineer who specializes in fluid dynamics help build a truck? Is there something about trucks I'm not aware of?

As a sometimes network engineer (rest of the time, it's systems), I will not build you a big truck you can just dump something on.

Why would an Engineer build a truck? Isn't that some menial laborer's job? I thought engineers just designed the stuff.

Not about trucks, I'd say. You're probably unaware that the air is a fluid, which might clean things up a bit. I'm assuming they're referring to attempting to make trucks more aerodynamic so that they get better gas mileage. Oh, and in case anyone out there was wondering, leaving your tailgate down gets you worse gas mileage, not better.

Interesting marketing strategy - you'd think people would be offended being talked down to in such a manner. You're watching an ad and thinking about buying a truck? You must be one of the dumb guys.

At least four people with PhDs that I work with drive trucks (mostly Dodges, incidentally).

You'd think the people who work at Ford who actually designed the trucks (not the marketing people) would be offended by this. But then again, since when do they get a say in advertising.
