I feel like if I were being completely honest with myself, i would say that part of the initial seed that started my hair growing out was how uncomfortable I get going to a barber shop or a salon or anywhere like that. I kind of at the time would have a hard time socially with places in general, and also my town only had like ol' luigi that my father goes to and these chic-four-years-ago kind of salons to the suburban starlets. There was nowhere where i felt comfortable, nor was there anywhere that would cut my hair to not look like either A. an old dude's haircut on a kid or B. David Bowie from labarynth. Then, once i realized that you can avoid the whole ugly shebang by just not going, my hair got long enough that i started being that kid with the hair? So then it was part of my identity and i felt like cutting it would make waves and whatever, so i just let it go. Also incidentally i really like how it looked really long.

Likewise-I want it cut, but I just can't be bothered with the hassel of getting up, phoning the hairdresser's... I also only want it cut by Ivonne-but I don't like asking for a certain hairdresser, it makes me feel bad, as though I'm telling the other hairdressers they suck...

Hairdressers have regular clients and expect them. I don't know where you are, but here hairdressers generally have to have a solid clientele before a salon will rent a chair to them. Not all salons are chair-rental arrangements, but usually upscale, pricey ones are. If a customer is known to prefer one hairdresser, it's generally bad form to try and steal that client from him or her. If they aren't THERE that day, it is acceptable to offer a substitution, but the best way to avoid that situation is to just call and make an appointment.

What parka said. Essentially, when you get your hair cut at a salon, you're going for a person, not the company. So, ask for a specific person, if you like someone. Especially since, over time, you'll get to know the person specifically. It's not saying others are bad, it's saying you like this one person.

On the hair topic... I go, funnily enough, to the same barber my dad went to when he was my age. I know it sounds odd, but, he know exactly how i like my hair, and i always enjoy getting my hair cut (don't get me wrong, i'd rather not have to have it cut at all, but...). Don't know what i'll do when it comes time to find a new barber.

Anyway, webcam pic...
