Yeah, that game wasn't even close to being as close as I thought it was going to. I'm not sure UCLA even showed up.

ESPN has whipped the town into a frenzy, GameDay and other assorted shenanigans are going on tomorrow, about 3489723049587 alumni are descending on us, there will be rioting and cheesy slogans in the streets, it's scheduled to rain (60% chance), and Oklahoma is going to beat every drop of black-and-gold blood out of us.

I'm fleeing for Kansas City. My best friend has orange margarita mix.

The mix is just orange? No flavor, it just turns the tequila orange colored?

No, it tastes orange-y. And now I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy...no wonder all my friends keep talking about how tequila makes clothes come off.

5:18 until the end of the game, Mizzou 36, OK 27. I CAN BARELY BREATHE.

Edit: 1:33. I had no idea football was so balletic. Am I dreaming?

0:09. The Sheriff's department is on the field...yeah, good luck keeping the fans from rushing the field. Goalposts about to get dragged all the way downtown.

AND WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN! Pandemonium on the field!!!!

All right that's my experiment in drunk "live-blogging." Coach Gary Pinkel still looks constipated, but oh well. I'm kind of glad I'm in KC, the goalposts just marched right off the field, CoMo will be all-night insanity now. BCS standings scrambled. Happy, Oregon-boy?

My favorite story of the night is that the goalposts were torn down (despite being specifically purchased to prevent this occurrence) and were marched towards Harpo's, a local tavern, where hundreds of people lined every block around (overheard on the police scanner: "The streets are overrun!") and the main question was: what do we do with the goalposts now?

Enter: one enterprising young representative of the glorious capitalist society who arrived and began selling hacksaws for $10. Instant souvenirs. Apparently at one point blood got smeared on the end of one post and no one knew whose it was, but hey, just one of the hazards of drunken victory, right?

During the OSU / Michigan game a few years ago, when they were 1 and 2, I believe they had state troopers guarding the goalposts. It apparently gets ugly, a lot. I've been to a couple OSU games before, but this year is my first Michigan game.

Well, the first two #1s were AP #1s, then it was BCS #1. So if it is a curse, it is a mobile curse. Oregon has been #1 in the AP for two weeks now.

People let it stick around because they don't have a choice. The college presidents who run the show don't get democratically elected. This system is lucrative to the only people who matter, and as long as it stays that way things will never be fair.

But a playoff would be significantly *more* lucrative and bowl games could (and would) still profitably exist. The only people who benefit from it are the conference commissioners, the athletic directors (and coaches, who get large bonuses) of the schools, and the people who run the individual bowls. The university presidents only go along with it since the BCS doesn't offer an alternative. The universities themselves more often than not LOSE money going to bowls. When Florida went to the Championship in 2009, after their expenses were paid and the bowl earnings split with the SEC, they made $47,000. This is a university that routinely pays other teams half a million to come play against them.

The SEC is more difficult than the Pac 10

and the Big 12 is now killing each other off, but the computers has Big 12 teams at 4 6 and 8

also Utah and TCU meet this week...

It makes sense. The computers in total only make up 1/3 of the final BCS rank. The two human polls make up 1/3 each and the actual rank is the average of those three (to ensure that the computers can't overrule humans). For the computers, the highest and lowest ranks are removed and the remaining four are averaged to give the computer rank. That said, the computer rank doesn't account for margin of victory which the computers themselves state makes them not the best ranking they can get. At least one of the computers posts and alternate ranking based on a different formula that DOES include this, and is regularly more accurate than his official ranking.

I thought both the Boise and TCU games were gonna have the same score. Pretty close.

If Auburn is number one in the BCS this week, I wouldn't be surprised. I also will be less surprised when Auburn runs over Alabama at the end of the season.
