This year (so far) I got:

$25 from grandma in Alabama
$20 from parents
$25 from boss (he said it was from his wife, but I know better)
a $10 Chick-Fil-A gift card from a co-worker
a bunch of homemade cookies and candies from another co-worker

Thinking of buying myself a tablet PC, but may wait a while on it. First have to convince myself exactly why I need one.

The best gift was a sewing machine, I've wanted one for a long time. I also got a baffling amount of socks and underwear from my mom, a shirt from my aunt, a box of chocolates from a friend and a book of comic strips from my sister. Too bad I signed up too late to take part in the forum's secret santa project, I look forward to it next year.

Money so I can afford textbooks for school. Awww yeah. Also in a gift exchange at my grandmother's (basically everyone brings a gift and then we all pick a number, select a gift or steal one from someone else) I get a jacket which is kind of gaudy but I like it.

Huh, my parents got me a new water bottle, one that's twice as big as my current one. I guess they got irritated with my stomping up and down the steps to fill it up at odd hours of the night.

If it's a bot, then either it's one that's well written for a very small use (commenting on "What'd you get for Christmas" threads), or we should start getting scared by the advances in AI.

Yeah, that's why I haven't reported the post. I'm kind of waiting to see what kind of response the person (or bot) gives.

It may be directed at you (or someone else), but the way I read it at first was a setup for self-deprecating irony.

I got a bunch of cool yarn and homemade soap and stuff to make my room smell nice from my sister. yay!

I got a Kindle Fire from my mom. yay!

It died after 5 minutes and had to be shipped back. boo! But I have a new one coming tomorrow, /crossfingers. It was really disappointing, I mean SUPER disappointing, because I knew I was getting one. And my sister got one too. And we were both Kindling at the same time, and mine died but hers didn't. D: D:

I got:
* Two flannel shirts
* A pair of pants
* Books: "Ender's Game", "Catch 22" and "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind". The last one is by and about a teenager in Africa who built his own electricity generating windmill.
* Candy
* A $10 Newbury Comics gift card which has already been redeemed for a plush Joker
* A Xun, which is a hand-held musical instrument that is kind of a cross between an ocarina and an empty moonshine jug. You blow across the top like a jug, and it has holes in the sides to control the pitch.

I gave my parents:
* The book "V is for Vengance" by Sue Grafton
* A 25 foot HDMI cable so may they can more easily connect the laptop I got them last year with the HDTV my mom and I got my dad the year before that.
* Two matching CD racks. A couple months ago, my mom said she needed one. I gave her a medium sized one of mine that I didn't need anymore. The next time I visit, I see the rack on the floor, because my mom didn't want to screw up the symmetry of her table. I got two small racks so she can have one on each side of the table.

I also took them glass blowing earlier in the month. There's a place near my home that teaches you to make your own Christmas ornament, paperweight or vase. When they visited me for my birthday, we each went and made an ornament. It takes two days for them to cool, so they couldn't take them home that weekend, but they were ready for Christmas and are on their tree now. Pics spoilered for size:

An Iron (Yay! No more wrinkled shirts!)
Some ceramic bowls
A few glasses
A camera
A lamp

I gave:
A tea pot
A coffee tin
A pair of scissors

which one did you get?
You can only get the basic keyboard-less one and the keyboard+3G one in the UK, and I got the keyboard-less one, it's pretty awesome, but typing on it is a pain, all this time, since they were first released, I have been waiting for one with exactly the right features, I had pretty much decided that the kindle touch was the one I was finally going to get, but hadn't yet because it's unavailable in the UK, and then I get given the basic one! I think when the Kindle touch comes to the UK, I'll buy it and have my current one as a spare/give it to my girlfriend.

generally this is why I don't like presents, you plan to buy things you want, which are often the top of the range variety, but then people think they are being nice by giving you the barebones bottom of the range version, which although awesome, makes you seem/feel ungrateful, because you still want the top of the range version, but you can't justify buying it, because you already have something so similar! :evil:

And a sewing machine. It really is the season for sewing machines, I guess.

another one! wow, yeah has there been some sort of global ad campaign for sewing machines I didn't know about?
