Don't you just hate it when what happens?

Never happened to me either.

But here's a website that explains it:

Tucker: Why do you want my kid?
Wyoming: Because he's very special.
Tucker: Yeah, I guess I should've read to him more.
Wyoming: Not that kind of special you half wit!

Solution: Use a password that looks like a valid IRC message. Like "What's up guys?"
I edit my posts a lot and sometimes the words wrong order words appear in sentences get messed up.

It's OK, it stars it out to everyone but you.

The forums do it too, I think. Here's mine: **************

I have a tendency to do that at work. I'll be logged into about half a dozen routers, start telneting to something else and get an IM. After I respond, I think I switched back to my telnet session but the IM window is still active. That's the one good thing about using a secure ID token to log into my equipment, a password is only compromised until it's been used.

What's really bad is when you're in multiple routers and accidentally reboot the wrong one. Upgrading software on a minor, out of the way device and reloading it only to find you've reloaded a core switch instead is little bit of a career limiting move even after hours.

Ouch.

At least on Debian-based servers you can give yourself a bit of a safety net via

Code: Select all

apt-get install molly-guard
(http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/molly-guard)
