Post Your Pets

I was inspired by the Post Your Face thread, where there are lots of cute animals. Sadly my pictures of pets do not include my face, and thus do not fit in that thread. This thread is for all the furry, scaly, or other textured non-humans in your life.

Here are two of my adorable kitties

Maisy does not trust the small clicky thing pointed at her.

My Maisy passed away this past March. I miss her.

Not the litter tracked everywhere and the constantly interrupted sleep, mind. Just her. Awfully. <3

Maisy looks awesome, especially with that rather awesome white lightning marking above her left eye.

IS SHE A WIZARD/WITCH?

We also have a couple of male rats, but they are ridiculously difficult to get decent photos of.

This could be long....

In order of acquisition:
Image
Speckles - adult male boa constrictor, ~ 9 feet long, 18 years old. I've had him all but the first 5 weeks of his life. Maximum lifespan: 40 years

Image
Lucy - adult female ball python - 4 feet long, 12 years old, rescued from neglectful home at 1 year old. Max lifespan: 50 years

Image
Darwin - adult male Blue tegu - 4 feet long, 9 years old, bought fresh from egg. Max lifespan: ~ 20 years.

Image
Squishy - my wife's bearded dragon - 14 inches long or so, 6 years old, bought as a hatchling. Max lifespan: ~10 years (due to inbreeding / genetic bottleneck in captive stock)

Image
Scampi - my wife's leopard gecko - 9 inches long or so, 4 years old, rescued via Craigslist. Max lifespan: ~30 years.

Image
Peyton - our retired greyhound, King of Relaxation - 3 feet tall, 4 feet long without tail, 7 inches wide. 9 years old this August, we got him when he was 6 (returned from a prior home due to owner's chronic, bankrupting illness). Typical lifespan, 12-15 years, max lifespan: 21 years.

Image
Nibbler and the frogs - our Cagle's Map Turtle and 3 Northern Leopard frogs, all adults. Nibbler's species has a tremendous sexual size dimorphism - females can be over 10 inches long, males rarely reach 4 inches. Max lifespan: frogs, ~20 years. Turtle, possibly infinite (there has been serious talk that turtles may just not naturally senesce, but rather die only due to accident/illness/predation).

Image
Libertine - My wife's betta fish

That's it for the moment, but more will join them soon. At the very least, some Cory cats for the betta, probably a few more frogs (of other species) and possibly a few more snakes. Our full, long-term pet wish-list is over 50 species.

That gecko up there is awesome!

And does the lizardy-thing [edit: the blue-tegu] which is sat on the chair have free reign of the house, or was it placed there?

Thanks, and he doesn't have truly free roam - he mostly lives in his cage, but every so often I'll just close off the bedroom so he can wander around as he desires. He scaled the chair on his own, and will do so with me in it sometimes. In the previous apartment (when the bathroom was directly off from the bedroom), he was also potty-trained, at least to the extent he'd poop on the easy-to-clean tile floor in exchange for some chicken.

This is Gerti, my Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler. She was rescued from a local shelter about a year and a half ago. She's still in training, and can be very skittish and stubborn at times, but she's a great dog overall.

These aren't of a pet, but of one of the bunnies that live in my neighborhood and occasionally hang out in my yard. They aren't very good pics, because I have an old camera with no zoom, and bunnies tend to flee if I get too close. Once, I pulled into my driveway and a bunny hopped up towards my car. He stood a few feet from my passenger side door, so I opened it to see if he'd hop in. Instead he hopped away.

Usually the bunnies are either alone or in pairs, though I did once see 4 at one time. I realized that was one bunny per limb, so they could probably take me down if they wanted to. Hopefully, they never figure that out.

When I'm sitting at the computer, he likes to suckle my neck. I think he was weaned too early.

Sorry for the bad quality and the noise, I was using a VHS-C camcorder and uploaded to the computer using a VHS-to-PC software I haven't had time to really fool with. I'm sure it has capabilities to reduce noise, but just haven't figured it out yet.
