Answered a teacher's questions during class.
- "What is your favorite native dinosaur?" Requested clarification. Evidently hoped for that. Asked other students about it. Apparently meant chicken and whether you like to eat it. Said no. Drew surprise from the class.
- Forgets this question. Guesses a choice between drinks. Chose the right-hand one. Elicited more surprise. (Continued for all responses hereafter.)
- "How do you spell 'daddy'?" Considered misspelling it. Interpreted it as a test of seriousness. Answered correctly.
- "Do you like milk?" Lactose-intolerant, so no.
- "Do you eat eggs?" No. Heard, "How do they live?"

Stopped there. Spoke with the teacher alone later. Imparted an anecdote. Never deciphered its point.

Met another student afterward too. Asked if the egg thing was true. Replied yes. Mentioned liking baked goods. Contains eggs, generally. Appeared to not help.

Feels like this so often.

Well, yeah, Boris Johnson got appointed as our Foreign Secretary. If that doesn't justify battering someone's face to a pulp, it does at least justify a collision involving a vehicle. I think the wrong people have been on the receiving ends of the violence, in this case, though.
Oh, Willie McBride, it was all done in vain.

Was at a baseball game. Batter hit to between pitcher and 1st. Both guys ran to get it. Pitcher grabbed it, threw it to home, and hit an ump that was between him and the plate. Then the home plate ump threw him a new ball, which he threw back and hit that ump(all unintentional). Then later I was laying in the grass of the outfield watching. Was chatting with someone about how as a kid we'd hide behind cars or something, like a corvette in the distance, we'd lay behind them in the field, except the car was like a hundred feet away. Also, my friend Kidd was there, with his wife.

Second part, was in an apartment hallway. Olivia Wilde was there, and there were all these dildos laying on the floor in the entryway. She said they were there for anyone to use. I went into an apartment, maybe hers, then looked out and grabbed a floppy black one. Started using it in my vagina, except I'm a guy...Was enjoying it, then realized the door wasn't latched. Kept trying to get it to sit in the frame and latch on the doorknob, but it wasn't working. Olivia tried to help, and maybe finally got it.

As I've gotten older, I have noticed that I more often have some sort of cognizance while dreaming. Not necessarily an awareness that I'm asleep and dreaming; that rarely happens and if it does I tend to awake almost immediately (although rarely it leads to sleep paralysis). By cognizance, I mean that I can introspect during my dream. For much of my life, my memories of my dreams seem to be more like observations. I had no inner dialogue, or no introspection while dreaming. In more recent years, I have noticed that I can mentally reflect on what I'm experiencing in the dream.

An example: I'll sometimes dream that I'm in school. I'm in my mid-thirties. So I'll dream that I'm in school, and for a time I'll be doing whatever the dream has me doing (observation mode) and eventually I'll reflect on my position and realize I don't belong in school. I'll think something to myself like, "I'm an adult. I don't have to do any of this, I can just leave if I want" or something like that. This will lead to the dream narrative going in a new direction, but I won't really be in control of my every action in the dream, and I might have only some very vague sense that it's a dream, if at all.

Another example: I'll see something that has to do with numbers or simple arithmetic. Once I dreamed that someone requested a 5/8" wrench, but someone handed him a wrench that was clearly labelled 13/16". I immediately recognized that this was incorrect, but it was only introspection. I continued to be a powerless observer, and in fact the other character continued to act as if he had received what he requested. Other times I have had to add numbers and then realized that something was wrong with the sum, and then recalculated the numbers mentally (sometimes several times, confusedly getting different sums). I also remember dreaming of doing a crossword puzzle in a dream, and mentally working out the answers to the clues.

Another thing, I have also noticed in recent years the ability to recall memories while dreaming. It can be memories of what happened earlier in the dream (not too uncommon, although the causal relationship of dream events is notoriously wacky), and sometimes I can recall real memories of actual events from my life. These are most often memories of something that happened during the previous 24-hours. This can lead to me becoming aware of dreaming and subsequently waking, if the dream contradicts my real memory. This implies that somewhere in my mind I know that the memory is more real than the dream, because I tend not to question the validity of the memory. Instead I'll question the validity of the contradiction to the memory, and realize that it's because I'm dreaming.

Last night, I apparently dreamed that I've been to Sweden and got a sixpence in change. Maybe. I'm not sure if I actually recall that scene.

Anyway, very late in the dream, I was walking somewhere with some girl, maybe looking for a cafe, and I must have been talking about coins, because the subject of what coins I got in change came up. (In reality, a few unusual ones, but no silver.) And then I could suddenly recall being in Sweden as a young boy and getting a silver sixpence in change (for some reason I knew it was silver).

At this point, I get very surprised. I know quite well which countries I've been to, and Sweden is nowhere near the list. Also they do not have sixpences, silver or otherwise, so in any case it must have been some other country. Maybe Norway? No, they don't have sixpences either. Maybe I dreamed the whole thing up and I hadn't actually been there? (I actually thought that.)

I still hadn't figured out where I got the sixpence, and it was definitely not enough for me to realize I'm dreaming (I mean, I did suspect that the sixpence scene was a dream, but not that the surrounding "reality" was), but when I woke up, that scene about how I might have dreamed up that sixpence reminded me of your post pretty much immediately.

I can't remember all the details, but it involved a six-legged cat, and specifically the tracks thereof. There were places where they were doing something differently just to show that the cat hadn't been listening to instructions, like six pawprints in a hexagonal pattern where it sat down because cats sit around and stare rather than doing stuff.

In the frontier days, an adventuring outdoorsman escorted another man through the Appalachians to Tennessee. They arrived in a valley at night, and a bit of snow was on the ground. They approached a rather modern-looking apartment building. The adventurer peeped into the keyhole and saw that women lived inside, and so knocked on the door hoping to impress a woman. He asked her for lodging for the night, explaining that they had just traveled from the State of Georgia to that Tennessean valley (which was not yet a State), they needed rest, and had vital information about an invading army on the march (which was true but the adventurer was more interested in making an impression on her). He then explained that they had no money to offer, but had "loot" from the mountains, including rabbit skins. The woman asked if he had any snake skins, and he answered, "no, but I can get some for you easily!" and immediately began searching for snakes. Even though it was dark and cold. While he was negotiating with this woman, his companion was acting shy and considered simply spending the night in a stable so they needn't bother the locals.

Had a dream that I was part of some elite shock troop unit within Ares (a Shadowrun company) fighting some existential threat that could drive you insane, and one of my comrades dropped through the ceiling and was screaming and insane and about to shoot himself, and I said wait, we could use the bullet. The one bullet you're about to use to kill yourself. Please throw yourself into that nearby vat of acid instead. And he complied.

Was on vacation in Hawaii with the family and girlfriend. Was upset with myself because for some reason I only brought one book along. Was trying to figure out where to get more books. Also walked around outside exploring beaches, then found this kind of hidden beach farther along, and a party was starting. At some point I was having sex with two women.

Some jumbled stuff about Japan and Mexico. Michael Bloomberg was going to pay $450 million to become Vice President of Mexico, and lead a rebellion in the eastern part of the country. Japan was somehow involved.

I was lying in bed stressing about the enormous amount of work that would be waiting for me when I got to work so I got up and checked my work email and saw that there was tons of it and then I woke up, started stressing about whether there really was an enormous amount of work waiting for me so I got up and checked my work email and there was tons of it and then I woke up again, etc etc etc until my alarm went off and I actually woke up and checked my work email and did not have a ton of work waiting for me, phew.

The Republican National Convention was still going on and, for some reason, it was now taking place near the beach during a heat wave. There were lots of people floating around in the sea and getting heat stroke so Bernie decided to hold a rally driving around the crowds on a jetski spraying the water into the air to keep everyone cool.

The building was hit by mortar fire. The power went out, a lot of people died, the building caught fire and we had to get out before it collapsed or the flames reached us. A girl I used to know was with us, and she was afraid of going down stairs without anyone in front of her, so I put her on my shoulders and ran down, which did my knees no favours. I don't think we were going to make it.

Yeah, not exactly feeling well rested today.

I had a strange dream. It was really short. It was in the evening last night. In the dream, I received some sort of vision of an extremely elaborate symbol. It had lots of sacred geometry stuff going on. The closest I can describe is that it was sort of like a kabbalistic tree of life but with pentagams or unicursal hexigrams perhaps in place of the circles, but that was just the very beginning of the complexity, and it was all in black. Then I found myself in a great library, drawn toward one book in particular the was on a shelf just above shoulder level. I reached for it, and I could sense the cover was black leather with the symbol on it, and then I heard the voice of my daemon shout at me to knock it off, stop napping and go to bed for real and I woke up.

A long dream last night (long single continuously morphing storyline, at least), but most of it forgotten.

However, at some point the Top Gear team (Clarkson era) arranged a race of sorts between where I was (apparently) in Wales to somewhere in Scotland, against someone else making a different trip between two different end-points. They brought to me a huge 4x4 (huger on the inside - at that point, I couldn't touch the ceiling when stood up inside its cavernous interior devoid of seating) and I started on the trip.

Apparently convinced that I had plenty of time (for reasons I forget), I diverted to pass by where I live to pick some things up, but (after various other driving memes, I didn't quite get there. Two 'friends' (fictional ones) saw me while I was stopped at some lights and jumped in for a ride-along, and wouldn't get out when I explained I was just passing through and this really wasn't the best time.

I scared them out by deliberately parking with the vehicle's nose stuck out in traffic, but whilst I was manoevering again it seems they snuck back into the back of the vehicle (now obviously not cavernous, and had regular seating) so I deliberately drove backwards at high speed along the busy road (self-debating whether I should be in the lanes of traffic whose direction I was facing or the lanes of traffic which was moving the way I was incautiously moving... I mostly stuck to the latter). I think they got the point, and professed their willingness to get out again, but I woke up before I was sure they had done or got any nearer to my half-way pick-up.

I was young. Christmas was approaching. I suggested, "Let's kill Santa Claus!" But my brother gave me a disapproving look, so I said, "Okay, let's just kidnap Santa Claus instead," to which he approved. Then we went to a room filled with high-tech stuff. I was of the understanding that these things were meant to be Christmas gifts, probably more for adults than for children. There were some NES consoles (two different sizes), and I opened one to find a cartridge labeled "Super Mario Bros. to Mexico". On the cartridge were a few musical keys (about seven ivory and four ebony) and the cartridge was wired to the console, even though it had been inserted into it like a normal cartridge. My interest then changed to another device with some musical keys on it, but then I saw something even more elaborate. It was a kind of projector, the kind that would now be considered a relic of the 1980s or early 1990s. I didn't know what all the parts were for, but I said something like, "this would have been worth at least a thousand dollars new." It was as if I knew it was a relic out of time. I was trying to determine if it was a projector for film or for video tape. I found a camera nearby, it made me think of the one Marty used in Back To The Future, but it was smaller (still large compared to today's digital cameras). Again, I wondered if it was for film, but I decided it was probably too small to be a film camera.

I don't precisely recall the WHY of this dream, the impetus that got the main plot kicked off, but for whatever reason high-school me began transitioning to female. I changed my name and even got ID in the name of Lily White (I was very pale), and I was happy that apparently HRT caused my then-modest but still not ideal fat distribution to actually become an appealing aspect. Unfortunately no-one really noticed for a few days until I switched from my normal clothes to a green dress, and then the biggest response was my parents were mad that now I had to be re-registered in everything with my NEW name because no-one would know it was me otherwise. Also I was still crazy tall, like 6'3", so people kept pointing out that my knees stuck out of every dress I owned (since apparently I was buying dresses for short girls).

However, since this is still one of MY dreams, 90% of the rest of the dream was trying to find a god-damn ladies washroom. Through every part of the school and the mall near us, basements, attics, inside and out, nothing. No ladies rooms. This was because it turns out girls actually don't go to the bathroom, that's something only boys do, so I began repair efforts on a decommissioned boys room in the Drama department, and I was hand-making the new sign for it when I woke up.

Waste of a good concept, if you ask me. Stupid braindream.

I think I was I some sort of museum of writing or somesuch and the guide told me that "if you could write, you could get any cooking job you want" at which point a head appeared upside down from the top of the screen and said "where are we?" or something at which point I woke up with a start (for the first time in a long time)

I was an international jewel thief. A partner (female) and I stole a packet of gems, then we stole a train to get away. That was fine until we came to the place where the track abruptly jagged left into a U shape, swinging out and back and returning to the straight track ahead. The sheriff was coming up fast, and another partner came up the track with a car on wheels.

He said the U was no problem and (somehow miraculously being in front of the train) drove down the track, cutting across the dirt between the ends of the U section, pulling onto the track ahead. So we tried to do the same with the train, and it worked fine leaving the track and rolling across the dirt, but when it came time to jump back on the track on the other side, it accordioned instead into a huge heap.

The sheriff got onto the train, so we got rid of him by sliding the (useless) train over the edge of the bluff (somehow I knew he wouldn't die, just be delayed).

Then my partner told me that the jewels, which I had given to her to carry, were still on the train. But I knew she was lying and still had them. Which was no big deal: she had some fakes that I palmed off on her at the time of the theft and I had the real jewels.

It gets a bit vague at that point: Somehow I won the beautiful (!) young thing and my partner went away (fake) disappointed. I guess the disappointment would have turned real, shortly.

I dreamed I was shooting a arrows with a bow. I had never done it before. I pulled back the bowstring with my right hand, but I could lean my head to the right and see the arrow from the right side to line up the shot from that angle (which would be awkward, if possible, to do for real). Someone was there teaching me. I was firing at a rectangular target. I managed to hit the target on the third shot, which pleased the teacher. The teacher then told me to hit higher on the target, which I was able to do by envisioning how far the arrow would drop. I was pleased with myself.

I was driving down the interstate at 85 or so, and went to change lanes. The road was wet, so when I changed lanes the car went off the road and went flying. It tumbled around, then landed upright again. I got out, and was fine. Then the car turned into a rental car, and I was worried about insurance on the rental, and if I was covered. Worried about that for quite a while, then the car morphed into a large truck of some sort, and it only had some fender damage.

I dreamed I was riding in a vehicle, and we pulled up alongside an 18-wheeled truck. The truck's engine started revving excitedly... it looked as if the trucker wanted to race! So we started accelerating, and the trucker did as well. Then I saw that the truck's driver was Brent Spiner. I had no interest in actually racing this truck, but was moving alongside it for a bit anyway so it was really as if we were just satisfying Brent Spiner's interest in a little fun. Then I turned to the driver of my vehicle, and said, "it's Brent Spiner! Can you believe it? We're racing against Brent Spiner, who's driving a truck! Nobody's going to believe us when we tell them this!" I then saw that the driver of my vehicle was Data. He kept looking forward, at the road, with no expression at all, not even showing acknowledgment of me. I was a bit mystified that I saw two Brent Spiners, but I justified it by considering that Data wasn't the real Brent Spiner.

It seems that I dream of Star Trek quite a bit.

Had to escape from a prison. It might have been a military prison, as there was a general military theme to some things. The plan to escape, though, was quite bizarre and would have drawn so much attention. For example, Chris Farley arrived riding a dragon, to allow us (myself and another) to safely exit our second-story window. The "dragon" was more like a 25-foot-long plush snake. When arriving, loud music (Alice Cooper) was playing, which was our agreed-upon signal. After escaping the building, while approaching the perimeter, we had to carry the plush snake. The space between the building and the perimeter fence was quite open, and it was daylight, so I was sure we'd be spotted and stopped. But we made it to the fence, and then managed to get out. I was so sure that we'd been seen that I figured the authorities were letting us escape as part of a plan they had to catch us later. Before waking, I saw some men in the town acting very strangely. I don't remember what it was exactly, but something about their behavior made me think it was a Monty Python sketch intervening.

I've had so many dreams about toilets - usually desperately trying to find one, or having to go where people can see me - but a few nights ago was the first time I can ever remember having a dream where I accidentally walked into the women's toilets.

Give it time, flicky. Give it time. One day, you'll dream you're a woman who accidentally walked into the men's toilets.

Last night I woke up from one dream, went back to bed and woke up from another which involved a lot of things but finished with someone licking a finger that had been scraped along the side of a child's shoe. My last thought before waking was "That can't be hygienic."

Speaking of dreaming that you're a woman, I dreamt the other night that I was a woman... with four breasts. Just hanging out at my house on the weekend doing ordinary stuff.

I also had a lucid flying dream for the first time in a long time last weekend.

And another fun dream about going on some new attraction at Disneyland which was a really, really convincing "space flight" to another planet that was like a Star Trek style idyllic crystal spires and togas world with spectacular views of nebulae and stuff in the sky, and I could hardly believe that such a huge and hyperrealistic experience was all actually underground or something in Disneyland.

I had a dream last night that I released a prequel to Marathon level-by-level over the 26 weeks leading up to Marathon's release, a fact which only became obvious upon the game's release when I revealed how to decrypt the cryptic files I'd been posting using clues from the canonical game itself and compile them into a scenario. When someone asked me how the hell I did that, I answered "timey wimey wibbly wobbly -- you'll get that reference in 13 years". Later on someone on alt.games.marathon (in the dream) was ranting about how I just admitted to being a time traveller, and I replied to them saying "I never actually said I was a time traveller, I just made a reference to a line from a fictional television series about time travel that hasn't been produced yet".

Yes, somehow it was possible to write in a smaller font size on Usenet, 22 years ago. It was a dream after all.

Last night I dreamt that I planted seeds on the moon and they sprouted and spawned. The whole damn thing turned green in short order because apparently regolith made great soil.

I awoke remembering only the voice and the declaration it made, with no other context. It said, "I gave you an order Deputy Dawg. You will be there, on time, or I will have you locked in your own jail."

I recently had a dream that alien spacecraft appeared above some section of upper Michigan, there were saucers and a spool shaped mothership that we saw in the distance. They bodysnatched some mall-looking place and it turns out they were extradimensional goblins who're invading earth(they also had their own toyline?), which was explained over a big rotating stone tablet thing that was some representation of the multidimensions we were working with. Also, some poor guy was converted by the aliens into this jury-rigged cart of organs. He escaped outside where the battle for the mall was in full swing, saucers making strafing runs and lasers everywhere. He met up with reinforcements and was placed in the back of a police SUV where he was told that because we couldn't supply some elements the goblins had that he would die soon. Better that than at the hands of goblins, he replied.

Then it turned into a commercial (?) for the toyline, featuring plastic figurines and slime and a spider that shot eyeballs.

Also I flew a flying saucer made out of snow. It made sense at the time.

Was at a ski resort. Took the lift up the other side. No snow, bus laid on from top of main lift towards peak. Person next to me got off. Bus carried on upwards. I thought I should have got off too. Driver screwed up and bus went off an edge. I used the person next to me as a crash mat. No serious injuries but had to get gear and walk down. Summit was kind of Mont Blanc shape, but all bare rock and rubble. People got on, making it hard to get off. Some sort of resort town. Got talking to a girlfriend from a long time ago, discussed plans to go out into the woods at night, just the two of us. She said it'd be too cold. I pointed out there was no snow and it wouldn't be all that cold.

I was in a hotel, but it was as if I was there for some sort of convention or sponsored trip. My sponsor or host or whatever had rented out the entire floor for myself and others in the group. But I felt like an outsider in the group, as they were mostly women and friends with one another. As night fell, I began to feel rather paranoid, seeing or imagining shapes in the shadows, and peeking out the window and out the peephole in the door to watch what others were doing. At some point I left my room to dash down the hallway, with the intention of leaving the building to escape the prying eyes of others. I realized I was wearing my pajamas and socks, so I returned to my room hoping nobody had seen me. All the while I still saw or imagined odd shadows, or people watching me. Later, a woman who had a key to my room let herself in with a male companion. She said she had the key from staying in that same room before, and I asked them to leave and told them it was my room now. They seemed contemptible to that opinion, and drank some wine and flirted with each other. I felt threatened so I just stayed out of their way. Eventually they chose to leave, but the woman made it clear that she would use her key to return at any time she would choose. As soon as they were out the door, I rushed to try to find a way to lock it, and peered out the peephole. I called the lobby and told them about the situation, but there was no response. Maybe I only imagined I called the lobby.

The last part of the dream was quite odd and distressing. While peering out the peephole, I saw some women going across the hallway so they could hang out together in one room. Nothing unusual there, but one of them kept looking at my door. I knew she couldn't see me, and I had turned off the light so it would appear as if I was asleep or the room was empty. But she acted as if she suspected I was watching. While she was looking directly into the peephole, there was a sudden flash of light and a deafening sound. I covered my ears, and so did she, but she didn't move from the spot. She said something like, "I always hate this part." I was afraid I'd go deaf from the sound, but the women seemed to only be mildly annoyed. There were more flashes of light from behind me, and I realized there were fireworks exploding outside. The deafening roar transitioned into a fanfare, and it was like the opening ceremony for the Olympics or something. I awoke relieved that my ears were functioning normally.

I was with a starlet (name reserved) about a third my age. We were laughing together--and helping each other--because we were both gimps. I had broken my leg, which was in a cast and her knee joint was immobilized for some reason. Then we were in Walmart and she picked up two of some common item, that was on sale for $2.75 and put them on the check out. The sales person gave her an angry look and got out the price book, then told her coldly that the sale was limited to $4.00 in items per customer, so she could only buy one. I took the extra item and put it on the shelf.
