hipbones are delightful. possibly my favourite part of people aesthetically. with hands and collarbones both in very close running behind.

wrists are pretty excellent too.

I can't grow a beard/mustache. All get is a nastier and nastier duvet of sparse hair, even after weeks (I tried one summer that I spent alone).
Do you think there's hope for me one day? I mean, I'm way past puberty but can facial hair "trigger" later in life? Or can technology grant me a beard?

I really want one -- just be able to try one.

While my brother never had many problems that I saw, full-bearding at 22 or so, mine was passable but didn't really get "good" until 25-27. And even at 34, there are parts that are filling in more than they used to.

That said, the 25-34 fill-in is nowhere near what the 18-25 spurt was like.

As far as my ancestry goes... beats the hell out of me. Generic European, mostly British Isles, mostly England is what I've been told, but who knows how accurate that was.

I also have a Mongolian ancestor! It is exciting. But oddly enough my head-hair come from the maternal side, while my beard/body/other-hair are all paternally determined. This allows me to fully maximize total hair having.

And even so, much better when I regrew beard at 28 than when I first tried at 20.

I have a question for you guys - how do you deal with back hair? (I'm pretty werewolf like - I gave up shaving as a lost cause because I always had stubble rather than shadow at the end of the day).

I tried getting it waxed but ended up with a back full of nasty, red, itchy, painful lumps that faded in about a week, just as the hair was starting to come back. I'm single, so assisted shaving isn't really an option either.

Also, a question for any women who happen to be passing (or men, if you know) - do I need to deal with back hair? Is it really as much of a turn-off as it is reputed to be?

My back hair is mighty and luxurious. It has never been anything but a delight to me.

My father has my mother shave the back of his neck. She is far more bothered by his insecurities than his neck hair, but chooses her battles very carefully at this point in life.

For me, smooth torso skin is a turn on, but hairy torso skin is not a turn off.

I have grown concerned with my developing cloak of fur, and my wife likes to point it out, but with the difficulties in dealng with it myself, I told her that hedgetrimming would require her help. To date, it has not become THAT important.

Never really thought about it. My gf waxed it once, wanting to inflict pain on me, but it didn't hurt.

I certainly wouldn't want to tackle it by myself.

i am in bluebambue's boat of 'smooth skin is nice but body hair is not a turn-off'.

also with waxing in general it is probably going to be really red-bumpy-terrible for the first couple times you do it? but once your skin gets used to it, if you DO decide to do it regularly, that usually stops being an issue. it just gets really bad the first time or two that you do it cuz your skin freaks out like wtf did you just do to me.

but, also, waxing your own back kind of a difficult prospect so i dunno. probably just something to think of if YOU really want the hair gone.

Body hair is beautiful in all (most) of its forms. I never understood the (American) ladies shaving it all off. Hairy legs, hairy pits, hairy other parts don't bother me on a woman. Unless it is on her face. I know women get mustaches sometimes, and it is natural, but it does turn me off. Otherwise, I have no problems with it. Despite this, my wife still shaves her legs, at least in the summer. I guess other people's opinions are more important to her than my own.

I truly did not mean to imply my wife cannot or does not have opinions. I was mostly being glib.

But still, if the person who loves you the most and you love back just as much doesn't mind a bit of hair, why shave? Just seems like extra work for no reason. But, I'm not a woman in an American society, so...

Anyway, I was mostly just joining in on the hair preference bandwagon, though I switched the gender a bit. I didn't have anything to add regarding back hair. I have it. My wife doesn't mind it. The end. So, I added what I could to the conversation and thought others might have opinions on whether or not women with body hair are attractive to them personally. That is the direction I expected the conversation to take, not whether women should have opinions. The latter seems... I don't know. It seems like searching for something to argue about.

I shave bits of me not because anyone else cares, but because I find the sensation fantastic.

And I'm not talking about bits above the neck. Those I shave how my wife likes as I do not give a fuck how that's styled.

But yes, what MJ said.

Probably because the other person has to deal with the judgement of the majority of society judging them and looking down on them and making jokes and stuff (not specifically about them as that would be rude, but at the concept in general). And, unless you two spend almost every second of every day together, the other person has to deal with that judgment alone.

If you're sensitive to it, it's a terrible way to feel all the time, even if you know that some people don't care and love you anyway. Granted, there are a lot of people in this world who are able to go against the trend without a problem or much of one, and kudos to them.

This goes for why some people follow a whole bunch of social mores, not just leg shaving.
