I agree. If you plan to do all of your hanging out in the ocean (which I can totally respect, it's a pretty cool place), they are utter badassery.

Ooo, or if you gave the squid some sort of anti-gravity pack so it could swim around in the air. That would be the best pet ever.

Make it spaceworthy, and get yourself a spiny red headdress.

And if you get that reference, you're my new best friend.

I want a ferret, but I'm boring that way.

A komodo dragon, perhaps? It'd get kind of boring after a while.
I want to have Bakemaster's babies. It's possible, with science.

What is that thing? It's totally too weird.

Also there was like 15 posts since I started writing my previous post. Maybe I just didn't refresh it beforehand.

Anyway what was that other face-jelly-thing before? Queerness!

A cat.

It doesn't matter what the choices are, a cat will always be the best possible pet.

It was said before (in passing). That blob-shaped creature is called a Blobfish. It has one of the most depressing existences ever.

My pet?
Hmmmm. Camel Spider?
No, I'd never be able to actually get near it...
That also rules out all other spiders.

I think I'd either settle on one of the big cats of some type or predatory bird. I'm surprised that nobody's said anything like eagle or falcon.

Oooooh!
Pterodactyl!

priapus wrote:A tree kangaroo (big pic) or a caracal.

When I was a teenager I was seriously planning/hoping to have caracals and/or servals as pets one day. (Other exotics too, but especially those two cats.) I'd spend hours doing research about permits and laws and behavior and costs and building outdoor structures and feeding and stuff. In fact every so often the thought "Add ground-up eggshells to meat for necessary calcium" still pops into my head after all these years. *Sigh* Maybe when I'm settled and somewhat wealthy. :?

At least I've gotten to chill with a serval and a few other small to mid-sized wild cats in Tampa. (They had the big guys too, but weren't so keen on letting us play with them. :)) I should find a scanner and post the pic of my mom petting said serval. And the pics of me and some friends hugging and getting licked by cougars in Colorado. (Yay, sand-paper!)

I also second having a pack of wolves. I spent several years from small times to around age 15 wanting to be a zoologist who works with them. I still want to go spend some time here eventually. I love wolfies; they are my favorites.

I want fruit bats too. So cool. I saw a whole bunch of them at the zoo recently and I've always liked them. Winged mammals, man. Watching them have lots of crazy, upside down sex is both amusing and freaky.

And foxes. And horses. And meerkats. And chinchillas. And red-tailed hawks.

A panther, tiger, leopard, and cheetah. I already have a cat, and I want to finish the family.

Or a rhino. I went to the zoo a little while ago, and those things are probably the animal most like dinosaurz.

EDIT: Did you know the cheetah can go 65 mph? That's like... as fast as a car.

Yes, I need to get one myself...
In fact, the only thing better than a cat, is 130 cats.
Also, I once had a dream where I had an awesome cat who would sit on my head and go everywhere with me (unfortunately, in my dream, cats could only be owned for a short amount of time before they were converted into plastic to make buckets. For some reason there was a terrible shortage of buckets in that particular dream).

I am completely happy with dogs and cats. However, I would like to play with baby tigers and pandas.

Failing that, a miniature cow. I'd name her White Castle.

Not cat shaped! Actual cat-bus! Yes. Must also have a cat-bus. I assume my Totoro will provide such.

Yeah, I'd want a Catbus to take me to school too, and a set of Totoro to care for my garden. XD Though my favorite anime styled mode of transport ever is still a Tachikoma, but they're more adopted children than pets.
