Traceroute - FTL by accident

Postby Mother Superior » Sun Mar 01, 2015 12:55 pm UTC

For work purposes I'm trying to get a better grasp of tracert and am running into something I don't quite understand.
While running a traceroute on, one of the hops returns RTTs in the 11-20 ms range. This is from a hop to the continental United States (me being in Sweden) which should take a minimum of 30 ms, in perfect conditions due to the maximum speed possible in commercial fiber and the distance the packet has to travel (5400 km at absolute minimum). Same thing when I try pinging it.

Am I missing something blindingly stupid?
My crappy creepy? Crabby? My crabby blog.
