Should I bother fixing my phone, and if not - what do I replace it with?

I've had my Nexus 5X for a bit more than a year, and in the last couple of weeks it started to either not recognize my sim card/recognize it but have zero reception/have reception but no data. Rarely it works as it should. I changed my sim card today and it's still happening, so it's definitely a phone issue.

1. Should I bother trying to get this fixed? I'm happy with the way everything else works.
2. If not, which phone should I get? Wirecutter recommended the Motorola Moto G5 Plus as a cheap option. At this point (and my previous phone only surviving two years), I'd like decent performance but mostly durability. I don't particularly care about a having a great camera, but I'd like a fingerprint reader.
