Font problem.

Postby Todo Deygulash » Sat Nov 05, 2011 4:58 pm UTC

I seem to have a problem with fonts on my browsers. Firefox turns a lot of regular text into bold while Chrome makes it into italics.
Example:

(Chrome is the one on the top, Firefox at the bottom)

I've tried re-installing the browsers but that didn't fix it. What might be the problem?

I'm unable to reproduce this in either Chrome or Firefox. They both look the same to me.

It doesn't affect all text for some reason, in the picture up there the forum titles look fine but the descriptions and stats are changed to either bold or italics.

Interestingly enough, I see normal text in those places. Neither italic or bold.

Yeah, the problem is on my end, either the computer or just the browsers. I just used the forum as an example.

Well, it's not the browsers, given that we aren't having the problems... I'm sorry that I don't have anything to offer other than that.

I'm going to assume Windows, but if not, what OS are you running?

Check your Fonts folder... maybe you're missing the normal Arial font, but you have Arial Bold and Arial Italic, and the browsers are just falling back?

You have the option to change font properties within the browser.

For Chrome,

Wrench > Options > Under the Hood > Web Content section > Advanced

For Firefox,

Firefox menu thing > Options > Content > Font & Colors section > Advanced

Both of my Character Encodings are Western (ISO-8859-1), and they present the same in both browsers. I'd suspect you're using different encoding for each browser for some reason. It may be related to themes for either browser, as well.

What? Um... but... what? Why would you even think it would even potentially be related to that?

Font properties != character encodings.

Todo, any luck figuring this out on your end?
