Ubuntu power indicator fails to update after suspend

Postby Arancaytar » Mon Feb 27, 2012 5:25 pm UTC

If I unplug my laptop while it is in suspended mode, then switch it on while it is unplugged, the system doesn't notice the AC is gone. This is annoying since it will not display the battery level nor show any warnings as long as it believes itself to be charging. It won't even automatically suspend when the battery is critically low, and I've had unsafe sudden shutdowns before when I failed to remember that I wasn't plugged in.

Is there anything I can do to force an update, like a process or service that could be restarted? I've tried to kill and then start upowerd, but that didn't change anything.

Code: Select all
(upowerd:26240): UPower-Linux-DEBUG: No updates on supply /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0 for 30 seconds; forcing update
(upowerd:26240): UPower-Linux-DEBUG: using min design voltage
(upowerd:26240): UPower-Linux-DEBUG: guessing battery state 'charging': AC present: 1, AC online: 1

Odd. Mine displays the battery level even when charging, and I remember there being an option to turn that off in prior versions, but it seems to be gone now. What OS version and desktop are you using?
