Postby ~Jake~ » Tue Aug 21, 2007 10:47 am UTC

...whilst reading a book in bed at night, you start to scan a line and then automatically retreat to the start just in case Pinky, Blinky, Inky or Clyde are coming the other way. You also quickly chase full-stops (periods) to get to the next level.

That actually happened to me last night after playing Pacman for an hour or so. I also remember a friend who played Fallout 2 pretty much 24/7 when it came out - he was telling me that everywhere he went, he saw a mesh of red hexagons on the floor.

Tell yours.

I used to be incredibly addicted to Troyis. I was pretty good at it too.

Anyway, I learned not to play that before bed because if I did, when I close my eyes I would still be tracing horse-jumps on imaginary game fields in my head. Also, my parents' toilet has a tiled wall with two different colours, so I'd play Troyis on it by using one colour as the "empty" tiles. And it would bug me to no end when some tiles turned out to be unreachable. Stupid wall-tiling-person, couldn't he have done it properly. :P

After I played Oblivion for ages, I'd walk around in meatspace and pick random plants and flowers and put them in my pockets to use later. Also, I frequently joke that my ginger haired friend does +1 Fire damage with all his attacks.

You know you've been playing too many video games-

When you start smashing crates open to see if they've got health

When you need a ride so you jack the nearest car

When you walk away from people mid conversation 'cause you're bored of all this goddamn exposition and want to play the game!

I once spent a couple of hours in one of The Matrix games, running around then pulling up the sniper rifle to zoom in on distant characters and objects. On my way to meet my friends immediately afterwards, I saw a heron across a field from me. For a couple of seconds I was really disorientated by not being able to zoom in for a closer look.

I also got badly addicted to "In Memoriam" (I think it was called "Missing" in the states). It's a creepy, awesome puzzle game that had me waking up at 4am with new ideas for solving it. I don't play computer games much, but this one really sucked me in.
...or is it?

When you drive/ run over anything smaller than you in an attempt to add it to your katamari.

When you keep on poking things in the hopes that they'll say something amusing.

When you don't think it's strange to go into other people's homes and rummage through their chests/other storage devices for treasure.

When you actually think the Final Fantasy Potion really does cure wounds.

When you refuse to go outside until the next patch for the universe comes out.

Lumines. Frickin' Lumines.

While in Iraq, I had only my PSP to occupy myself, and only the game Lumines. I would be playing it for hour at a time before bed. Then I'd start seeing all the different combinations of blocks and such coming down, quite literally playing the game in my head.

This was meant to be a joke.

Crowbars would be woefully ineffective against intruders with more than basic armor.

Perhaps a large caliber rifle, or some sort of rocket launcher.

How big is this pillow again?

Hey, I've got an idea for a product!

Pillow rocket: The rocket launcher that's as comfy as a pillow but as deadly as a rocket launcher.

Feel safe knowing that you're sleeping on projectile explosives that you can use to protect yourself from invaders.

Ugh, Plasma Pong.

For one thing, if you play it long enough, the music in the background sounds like they're chanting "BIRTHDAY CAKE IS COFFEE CAKE. COFFEE CAKE IS BIRTHDAY CAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!!"

For another, you get the weirdest dreams about shifting colors when you sleep. *sigh*

That is exactly how I imagine what people are wearing while playing games like Day of Defeat. Especially when that person is sitting near their spawn with an MG all game. Now I have proof that it is true.

I knew I was playing Zelda too much when I would get chased by a Doku nut in all of my dreams. I still have occasional dreams in the Doom universe and other FPS'.

I also know that I play games too much when I can recognize the guns used in WW2 movies, or that I can name most Babylonian/Sumerian cities thanks to playing Civilization games way too much. Or that I can point out the differences in seige weapons to people thanks to playing games like AoE.

Guess I'll have to buy that one. I saw it in the store and thought the packaging was pretty cool.

Oh, me? I've had the tetris effect from DDR and I've seen sniper red-dots (TFC). I've also considered what would happen if I side-swiped a car (wondered how much damage would ensue and whether I'd lose control or not -- not actually considered doing it) after playing GTA:VC extensively. Most recently I played DDR in my dreams.

Well, I never really watched that show much. Shazbot is the substitute for the word Shit in the Tribes franchise (Which is a franchise that relies on it's numerous vocal one-liners)

Tribes favories include:

"Humans taste like... Chicken"
"I GOT YOUR NUMBER!!! I GOT ALLLLLLL YOUR NUMBERS!!!"

and several various humerus versions of "whoo hoo" from INSANE cowboy style to completely sarcastic.
