You know you've played too much Pokemon Diamond when you spend your classes writing down ways to beat the Elite Four.

You know you've played too much Lego Star Wars when you hit your brotehr and expect him to fall to pieces.

That, and I played way too much Pokemon Crystal for the GBColor when it came out, to the point of not being able to sleep due to having various game sounds playing on a continuous loop in my head.

Edit: Speaking of EQ, we have an intercom setup in our house. Whenever I'd respond to someone contacting me over it, I would habitually mutter "r" as I pressed the Talk button (R was the default respond key when you got a /tell) ... I also did the $ = PP thing, both in text and speech ... and trying to "con (consider)" people to see how much they like me ...

Yeah, I played EQ waaaay too much.

I can identify Stepmania songs by hearing someone tap them out note for note for only 15 seconds. My friend and I played a game like that where we both tried to ID DDR songs strictly by the beat alone. We only missed 2 out of 30. XD

I twisted my knee once because you can't double-jump in real life.

The first thing I do upon entering a room is a quick check for security cameras.

Pretended to fiber-wire my friend with an ESD wrist strap.

I was watching TV, and thought, "That'd be a kick-ass wallpaper." So I tried to right-click it.

Tried to click flies to kill them.

Burned out a PlayStation with a 30 hour FFIX bender.

Looked for a save point before entering a classroom to take finals.

I've got that one beat. Due to years of MUDding, I will regularly type "look" to see what files are in a directory.

I also type "say [text]" instead of just "[text]" in IM programs.

I had about a month during my time working at Office Depot where I would "play" Max 300 with my knuckles on the countertop next to my register. It got on peoples nerves really quickly.

Your hand immediately moves to the WASD position... even when theres no keyboard.

You are surprised when somebody replies to the same question differently.

@AbNo: No, just general shooters (I can get half-life to work on this machine if I try, and almost always use sniper in multiplayer halo games).

Q.W.Quee wrote:Your hand immediately moves to the WASD position... even when theres no keyboard.
I generally settle for home row, although I do go to WASD when playing RTS games, which is quite annoying. I prefer to use left hand covering the entire keyboard, not concentrate in in one place.

Slightly related, but probably speaks to a specific kind of obsession: when you have only GH2 songs stuck in your head for three days straight. However, it's not so bad, since it's good stuff like "War Pigs" and "Tattooed Love Boys." I don't eagerly anticipate the day when my completist self has to play "Red Lottery" on my current Medium runthrough.

I've actually called people NPC's without even thinking about it, while at work dealing with stupid customers that keep repeating themselves. My coworker agreed. Also, you start humming the Mario Theme on a slow night, and my coworkers joined in. I only know the lyrics to some songs on the radio because of EBA, and wonder why I don't hear popping sounds. And, sometimes, I see people walking on the side of the road and wonder how many points I'll get for hitting them. AND, I have tried to get a rocket boost by pressing the gas as soon as a stoplight turned green.

Of course, I only get about 2 hours of sleep most nights, so my brain doesn't normally function anyway.

-When you argue with your mother about how many experience points driving will earn in different types of traffic, and whether there is a level cap or just a point where leveling becomes redundant.

-When you pick up something and do the *holds item in air* DUH NUH NUH NUUUUHH!!!

-When a confrontation with any superior or antagonizer is considered a battle and the FF victory theme plays once they leave.

-When, having won said battle, the DQ "level up!" fanfare also plays.

-You hear the points tallying as well.

-When you try to pause life and bring up the map screen so you can see where the bus you're on is headed. Bonus points if your destination is blinking.

Ohhhh, there are so many more...

When you're in a train station, you're on one platform, the train you need is on another and about to leave, and your first thought is, "Meh, I'll just stick a blue portal here, orange there, and no problem."

And your second thought is, "NO WAIT. If there's a window open on the train I can stick a portal inside the train! PERFECT."

Followed by, "WAIT WAIT. No, I just stick a portal on the train and wait until it gets where it's going!"

Slightly off-topic, but in FF7, after beating Emerald weapon (without final attack materia equipped - beat that!) I sat and watched the gil counter go from 50000 (I think it's 50000, it might be more) to zero. It took about half an hour, I think.

I passed as close as I could to an oncoming semi today...

I've been playing Stuntman: Ignition this week. In order to get a perfect rating in any scene, you have to be pulling off a stunt every 2 seconds. Driving close to objects or other vehichles counts.

I was trying to keep my stunt string alive. Except this was on US RT 5, not a video game.

I usually get confused between games (like wondering where can I save before realising I'm playing a MMO), altho I occasinally wish my car had a HUD (Not so much games related, I just think having speed and the line I'm going projected on the screen would make things easier) or that I had some random powerup (usually speedbooster or plasmabeam). At one point I used to say a lot of WC3 and DoW quotes. Like if ym friend wanted to talk to me I'd say "I have heard the summons" in Cryptlord voice (I can imitate it veyr well. It freaks people out) or say "By you'r glorious name" in Terminator voise when a girl I know asked me to do something for her (then realise that I just said it out aloud and loooking embarassed)

Argh. I was stuck in Nevada for like a month with nothing but Puzzle Quest DS to entertain me. So anytime I saw two people walking next to each other, and then one person walking beside them a couple feet away, I kept wanting to flip the one person with the gap so I could get a three in a row and score some damage.

Also, back in the Dreamcast days, I once played Bangai-O for a long freaking time and then tried reading a book. Every time I moved my eyes just a little bit I kept on seeing laser blasts and missiles going off. If I could keep my gaze perfectly still, I was fine, but let me move them a bit and BAM! Pink laser bursts shooting across the pages of the book. Really damn weird.

You know you've played Eternal Darkness too much when you start to say "argon" in a demonic voice whenever you see it on a periodic table.

On a related note, the same goes with Futurama and the Molten Boron jingle.

When I read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire I always imagine the resurrection scene in FF7 graphics, with Sephiroth as Voldemort. I honestly think it looks more awesome that way...

I also will look at objects or designs on walls and think about how I'd get through them as X (Megaman X).

You know you have played too much Megaman battle Network when you hear there is going to be a meteor shower and then quickly start looking for AreaGrabs, Fire + 30s, and a grassy field.

(I originally put this first one in another thread, but it seems to fit better here...)

Sometimes as I'm cycling through the park to work, looking out across the grass and trees without another soul in sight, I think to myself the draw distance isn't very impressive, though the fading effect is very natural. Then I remember it's actually foggy.

On another occasion, cycling through the same park, I came across a bunch of crows gathered at the side of the path. They didn't move as I approached. I'd just been playing through RE4 and found myself reaching for an incendiary grenade to take them out and scoop the treasure.

Back in school, I used to sit opposite the window in chemistry, and I sometimes found myself playing puyo puyo with the collective silhouette of my classmates as the 'landscape' for the drops.

Wasn't it "Pargon" or something? There definately wasn't one called argon =P

And in the Portal vein: I do that too! It's like there's two modes: one for non-Portalling and one for Portalling. It takes a while to start "thinking with portals" when you haven't played in a while, and takes just as long to stop thinking with portals.
