Penfold wrote:I sent and mail in the game a couple of weeks back, but saying hello here as I have a forum account I created years ago, never used and then forgot about.

Character name is Ambrielle (also was my wizard in Everquest and my magic user in AD&D 30 years ago  ), currently still meandering through Lanfar, collecting marapis for an Inn and finishing the rest of the Lanfar quests (and trying not to think about the 1500 foggy pearls for the next companion).

Welcome to the fora.

Current trunks: 134
Current beams: 59

Needs to cut 67 additional trunks and square 201 beams. Estimates fourteen actions per trunk. Figures ten chopping actions or four beams per day per character.

67 trunks * (14 actions / 1 trunk) * (1 day / 10 actions) = 93.8 days.
201 beams * (1 day / 4 beams) = 50.25 days.

How many characters are chopping trees? Three?

Unrelated: Finished a Manor and (soon to be) megalithic recipes today. Eyes a Kryanite Mine with Metallurgical Factory next.

I had myself and one alt cutting trees 24/7. I stopped on my main to get some pearls so I can get an autocrat and finally up my metal skill. So from my side there's 1 alt full time cutting trunks.

I could set Morlet on this woodcutting task. I will have him quit the alt guild and ask Val for an invite.

Announced new content. Drops on October 29.

Short version:
- Redesigned opening quests.
- Combat buildings (personal and guild). Involves three separate guild festivals.
- Palpable Boulders and Giant Gurdismo (for festivals pertaining to guild combat buildings).
- Buy orders. Allows people to fulfill part of it. Limitation: Must own the item to place an order.

Feels slightly unimpressed. Cares little about combat buildings. Solidifies Marapis as Stone Overlord. Cannot (easily) use buy orders for armor, clothing, weapon, tools, machines, or jewelry. Beats not having it, though.

Appreciates new content, regardless of personal interest. Invigorates players, hopefully. Proved sluggish in temple construction. Might find combat buildings more interesting.

Owns plenty of Marapis Blocks. Amassed over five thousand. Covers a Giantyard and Monolith Quarry. Estimated plenty of time before Mine and Metallurgical Factory construction anyways. (Needs seventeen Academic Agreements, twenty Military Agreements, seventeen Clandestine Agreements, and seventeen Commercial Agreements for everything.)

I ran some numbers and couldnt make the giantyard or monolith quarry with only marapis for the vaults/towers. The megamachines dont seem strong enough. Looks like we need oceanite for the towers. Fortunately I've been farming oceanite for the last while so I have around 1200 blocks which should cover both buildings. We'll see when the content hits what exactly is needed. The norstrian stuff for the last phase is probably going to be pretty rough. I'd like to know what level of combat they actually allow training for as well.

Functions well, also. (Mentioned it in guild chat, but not here.) Always attacks the opponent’s main stat. Example: Attacked Hawkoria’s piercing enemy (0 Blunt Defense, ~20 Piercing Defense) with Cerrydwen (55 Blunt Offense, 0 Piercing Offense). Missed every time.

Ok I'm setting up the google docs to list the things we need. The giantyard and monolith quarry in the Den look like they'll be time consuming what with needing a ton of marapis. I know Deva mentioned having a bunch so we can update it with how much more we need. I believe I have just enough oceanite for both buildings.

The post that mentioned the update said the lithostadium would go in the Den and the White Stadium in Norstria. That's a HUGE issue since transporting all those megalithic pieces is going to be an absolute disaster. Still one thing a a time I guess, lets get the ability to get the palpable boulders/gurdismo trunks first.

I'll put the other two festival components up as well (monster parts and plants). I have most of those components already but there'll be a few im missing. The google docs should be updated in the next little while.

edit: google docs list is up to date.

Didn`t include final buildings yet since there`s some debate on whether we need the combat thing in the den overall.

By the by, I'm back on the intertubes with a brand new fiber connection, but in my downtime I've lost interest in this game, so you guys are welcome to the stuff on the character I let Chen use. Right now I'm playing hearthstone, LoL, and world of warships. If anyone wants to play drop a note in this thread for my usernames. (I'm also up for considering other games, most of what I'm looking for right now is some sort of co-op play to substitute for a social life :? )

Things are moving ahead pretty well. The marapis pieces for the den buildings will be done tonight. I'll put them up once the expansions are done. Landel vine is being farmed by some alts for that festival. We're pretty good on the drizzles too, I can farm up the last few if I can't find anyone to sell them to me. My two working alts will move towards cutting and making the nuert structures for the monolith quarry/mega site in Norstria next.

The cato leather for those megamachines might be an issue, but I'll re-run some numbers to see if its really necessary. If we can replace it with something like melandrin it'll probably be easier since I have a couple thousand melandrin logs on hand and a concession setup to gather them.

On another note I'm power grinding out metal and fashioning on my main so I can get an autocrat. The metal stuff is almost done, any hints on the fashioning part? There any cheap/quick things to do to level that? Just want enough for the Eliandel wing, not planning on doing anything with it. I don't have a modiste but I have a Chimera for tanning, a den companion for sewing and I think Rowan for Jewelry.

Re: Therian Saga

Recommends leveling Jewelry first. Sells uncut gems cheaply. Offers tasks at most skill levels. Allows better tools faster in Sewing and Tanning.

Sewing: Trim, Cable, and making fabrics.
Linen: 26 Trim/40 Cable
Hemp: 28 Trim/44 Cable
Cotton: 31 Trim/29 Cable

Exceptional Silk Crakows: 35 skill. One fabric each.
Purchase Linen Fabric from Gourin's Farm, if possible.

Tanning: Whips, trims, and making leather. Depends how high you wish to level (for its feather or not). Notes Catoblepas Leather at 40. Ignored armor, mostly.

I have 68 pieces of catob leather, and a few skins. I expect reaching the 100 for one machine shouldn't be very complicated, but 300 may be many indeed.

Jewelry does seem to make sense to level first. I need to finish making the feeds for my Glutamole before I do the prospecting silver feather since I believe that's the only chance to raise prospecting above 50. Not sure which other feather I will try for.

@DrumhellerAs for those drizzles, yeah just mail me them. You can check the spreadsheet but I think we still need a number of all 3 of them.

@Grop: I think it would be 230 for the three machines (one only requires 30 I believe) and I have 130 myself so we look to be pretty well covered if it does come down to using cato leather.

Yeah I saw that this morning. Will be nice. How many people (who read this thread) can actually use those recipes? Me and my primary wood/stone alt (the one who slaves away in Norstria most of the time) can use both recipes. Do we have any other high level stone cutting/woodcutting people around?

For the record, 67 Woodcutting and 68 Stonecutting.

Controls one sufficient for Woodcutting (now) and one for Stonecutting (with training).

Edit: Swapped from Pine Beam to Giant Gurdismo. Yields one trunk every twenty twenty-one actions, apparently.

Even if I handed over 40,000, I'd still have 3000 and change left over.

Ought to discuss White Arena monoliths. Copied details below.
fingon wrote:White arena needs 114 boulders to be completed.
The options are Sandstone and Limestone.

Since Sandstone is provided in Lufomir, it was an obvious choice to do use it and avoid any transport times.
But further calculations with my guildie Ken show that this is not the case.

Actually limestone is much quicker to extract and move through Tarasquan because of its much higher presence at Whitestone.
The original problem was the transportation through Tarasquan, which should be done with every megalithic structure alone. And 45 Encumbrance for walls etc is not an easy task. But... then we realised that monoliths are way too easier to transport than the actual megalithic.
For example limestone mono is 3 encumbrance while the foundation that requires 2 monos is 30... So, why not move the monos instead of the megas? That may be common knowledge to some but it was not known to us.

So, enough talk lets do the math:

One sandstone monolith needs:
Extraction time: 10 cycles x 138 mins each = 1380 plus sleeping time around 1880mins
Cutting time: 570 mins (including sleep)
Total time for 1 sandstone mono: 2450 mins
Total time for 114 monos: 279300 mins

One limestone monolith needs:
Extraction time: 7 cycles x 138 mins each = 966 plus sleeping time around 1316mins
Cutting time: 570 mins (including sleep)
Total time for 1 limestone mono: 1886 mins
Total time for 114 monos: 215004 mins
Transports needed: 114/12=10 (since 12*3=36, it can be achieved without a cart)
Total transport time: 10*2112 = 21120 (the transport time was calculated on a toon with 38 transportation effective)
Total time needed: 236124 mins

We don't put into calculation the megamasonry its the same anyway at both situations.
So, its clear that limestone is quicker.

Advantages of SCENARIO B :
quicker time
many alts can help without Nostria access

Disadvantages of SCENARIO B:
needs a Tarasquan domain
needs 10 big transports that will probably be able to be done from very few people in each guild (high transport needed, plus fighting at Tarasquan - problem can be solved if you have a lesser transporting alt move to Plains before main toon grabs them for Lufomir)

Thanks to Lyncea for initial conversation and Woody for last night's intriguing talk

Summary: 719.6 hours (~30 days) longer total for Sandstone Monoliths. Requires another Fishing Net Festival and long transportation through Tarasquan for Limestone Monoliths.

Leans towards Sandstone Monoliths. Never factored Fishing Net Festival (or quarry construction, admittedly) into time spent. Probably involves slightly higher Masonry tasks.

Does not mind Limestone Monoliths, however. Gains more Megalithic Vault recipes and domain locations. Owns three characters with Tarasquan access and at least Royal Chimera. Convinces members to harvest Limestone Monoliths easier.

Edit: Attained enough skill for Palpable Monoliths.

My thoughts were on the sandstone as well (already made some nuert stuff). I dont particularly want to run another fish festival at the moment. Our giant plains domain is also fairly badly placed compared to tarrasquan doors too, which might increase transport time. Similarly our lufomir domain is fairly far from starfield as well. Not sure where the other guilds have their domains. Having a quarry in luformir might nit hurt anyways for any future other buildings.
