Hmm, the template doesn't really fit what I'm looking for all too well, but I'll fill it out and put extra information afterward.
Background: It's one of those browser-based MMOs. No graphics except for the galaxy map showing different planets. I played the game a few years ago, but I think it'd been running a few years prior to that. Let's say it started somewhere in the 2006-08 range? I think the game was most noted for combining the roleplaying in the forums with the actual game mechanics. Actions and events that were roleplayed out had an effect on the in-game universe.
System: Computer, on the internet.
Year: 2006-ish?
Perspective: Text primarily.
Art style: Yellow-ish text on a predominantly red or maroon background, if I remember correctly.
Environment: Various planets in a sci-fi universe.
Mood: =/
Genre: Sci-fi
Gameplay: The most basic way I'd describe it is a player-driven economic and military simulation. You created a royal family, with a crest and everything, then chose an economic sector to go into. The options were things like Agriculture, Transportaion, Construction, Research, Military, Exploration, and a few others I can't really remember. In addition to managing your business by constructing buildings, you also controlled your randomly generated family of minor nobles, defined by their name, gender, and a handful of stats representing their administrative abilities and dueling expertise. As time went on (an in game year was something like a few real-life months or so) family members got old and died, were born, grew up, and you could put them into school. As I remember it, the combat system wasn't extremely detailed and usually only the upper echelons of the player base took part in it, trying to secure themselves as the emperor of the galaxy.
Again, the most notable part of the game was the extensive roleplaying community that also bled over heavily into the actual game. I never took much part in it, but I could see the way it changed the actual game mechanics. I'd like to check out the game again after all this time, but I don't remember anything about the name or how to search for it, so hopefully someone here has heard of it.
