Sorry for posting a link, especially in this form, but I can't get to post my wall of text otherwise because of the stupid filter.

The filter really only takes effect if you have less than five posts, as I recall.

    * Background: Some RPG where you controlled a party of 3 (I think) what I used to call witches, and a merchant NPC was Shakespeare (or mentioned the name Shakespeare, but I'm 95% sure it was in fact his name). At some point later in the game, Shakespeare would transform into an enemy (I don't know if because of the plot or because of my actions).
    * System: Win 95/98
    * Year: Late 90s, early 00s at the very latest, but probably around 1998
    * Perspective: Isometric
    * Art style: Sprite-based, I believe
    * Environment: Shakespeare was a merchant NPC in a village/town, and was at a stall in front of a house. Roads were dusty. Here I might be tricked by my memory, but I think the world map had a mountain range in the north, and which map you were on was indicated by the presence of your character(s).
    * Mood: Darkish, but I know the village I remember felt comfy and brighter in comparison to the other maps
    * Genre: RPG
    * Gameplay: I think it was more or less one of many Diablo clones, but truth be told I can't remember if there was a mana system, for instance.

It is definitely NOT Lionheart.

Thanks in advance.

Hunted for games with Shakespeare. Returned very little. Cast a wider net. Focused on Diablo-like games with party members. (Attempted witches too. Discovered nothing worthwhile.) Expects zero success. Opted for images instead of links. Sorts through everything quicker.

I'll start by ruling out those that definitely aren't: Arcanum, Darkstone, Elixir, Hexplore, Return to Krondor, Walpurgis Night, Ultima IV.

If it is one of the rest, there's a 95% chance it's Akuma.
-three characters, at least one of whom a female
-the world map view does have the characters, even though not in the way I imagine
-the HP and mana bars just "feel" right
-but here's the most important aspect: the "Shakespeare" in this game is a character named Witch. Moreover, after a bit of googling, there's apparently a quest called Discover the Witch's Identity. If this causes the Witch to become an enemy, there's no mistaking it: it is what I'm looking for. (which in turn would mean that my memory of Shake does come from Lionheart)

Thank you, even more so as in my whole period of searching I had met the vast majority of games you mentioned, but not a single trace of Akuma.

There was this one browser game I played a few times roughly 10 years ago. It was a point-and-click game with a medieval setting. There was a bit of text that popped up whenever you clicked on a person's inappropriate part that said PERVERT ALERT and it jokingly asked for several random pieces of information, like your name and shoe size. There was also a war hammer item.

* Background: I just found it while on TvTropes. I never played it.
* System: I don't know.
* Year: I found it perhaps one year ago, so it's at least one year old and probably much older.
* Perspective: Unknown.
* Art style: I *think* it had ASCII graphics.
* Environment: Unknown.
* Mood: Unknown.
* Genre: I think it was an MMORPG.
* Gameplay: Players could be infants, and when infants whenever they tried to type, it always came out as incomprehensible baby noises. It also required players to eat for them to survive and characters would need to eat even when they weren't online. Players could also set their character to automatically eat when hungry, even if they weren't playing. Also, when players ate, I think poop could occasionally spawn in a random location, though the poop wasn't associated with any specific player.

Looking for a board game. Competitive. Goal is to colonize mars, which is divided into regions named after Sci-Fi authors. It's a dice work-replacement game, where the dice are your ships. Can't seem to Google it.

i know this thread is very old but meh.
the game im looking for is called war of something , its horror and its 1 person prespective. the character is called james , and he was away and came back tto save his family. you should click on the album to see them, theres also a father called Aval i think, the game start had the Israeli star.
this game could be from mid 90s to 2002.
its arcade, I think and 3D , shooting and other survival tactics.
in the end of the game you fight a dianosour who was a man. :D thanks in advance

Its title were something like war of malaski but i think not because I searched a lot. Its a horror game, with a guy who came to help his family in the mountain, he was named James. They were living in isolated place. When the game starts you are left before a gate that are covered eith cerfixs, lots of them.
Then when you walk by there is a father his name was father Avile. He used to say; James the pain, I can't take it much longer, please bring doctor Amersfiled.

I Remember the whole game, i know it's weird to not remmeber it's name but I didn't because I thought its the game of the house of the dead 3 because the folder was named like that, then I figuore figured out its name from inside was different.
Anyway, you rescue all your family member and guide them to the safe gate (mentioned earlier) safely.
The game is 3D with first person view . I Think its around 1998 -2004 Maybe older.

If You want much more details of the game just comment.
Ps: I think the game was named after the vampire monster who killed Rebecca before fighing with the Boss.

* Background: I played this game when I was a kid, I was happily playing similar games like Freddi Fish and Putt-Putt at the time. I remember this game being too hard for me though; I'm pretty sure it was still designed for kids, but I was just too young. I vaguely remember the age group being 8+ or something. It may have been released only in The Netherlands, but probably not.
* System: Windows
* Year: End of the '90s or start of the '00s
* Perspective: 2D
* Art style: Sprite graphics
* Environment: So, there was this mansion with a road leading around it in the form of a square. Along the road and at its corners were various characters, I think a lot of anthropomorphic animals. You played something like a mouse yourself, but I could be way off there. You might have had a sidekick too. There weren't any other characters in the mansion itself. It had a lot of rooms and hallways and probably a dungeon. I specifically recall a room with a big orrery.
* Mood: The outside was colorful and happy. The mansion was pretty dark and lonely to me as a child, the impending doom didn't help either (see Gameplay).
* Genre: Point-and-click adventure
* Gameplay: Solving puzzles, finding objects. The goal of the game was to do or find something inside the mansion (can't remember what) before the curse cast by some evil guy turned the entire building into a big heap of garbage. This would happen after a fixed amount of time. Yes, this adventure game had a time limit and if you were too late you had to start the entire game over again. I hated this as a child, it worked on my nerves big time and made it impossible for me to finish the game. If time had run out, there was this scene of the evil guy laughing manically on top of the pile of garbage with dark clouds and lightning and everything and your player character crying at its foot because he had failed.

* Background: I don't remember much, but I played it in the very early 2000's ('01 - '03)
* System: Gameboy Color
* Year: I dunno.
* Perspective: 2D
* Art style: Can't remember
* Environment: I feel like there was a level inside of a castle, but I'm probably getting it confused with Gremlins.
* Mood: I feel like it was kind of dark. I also feel like it wasn't. Perhaps it had both.
* Genre: Platformer, puzzle-solving
* Gameplay: The main character was basically a giant lizard who fought monsters of various types. It has been years since I even seen it. I might know it if I see it again; I feel like I will. But this is all I can currently recall of it.

I'm wanting to say that it was a Mario-style platformer. The second one you listed is the closest character to what this one looked like. I don't remember there being much color.

Maybe Croc rings a bell because I played it on the PSX, ha ha.

No, none of those unfortunately. The graphics looked way more like Putt-Putt or something.
I've tried multiple times to find this game over the years, but it's like it never existed. Yet I can remember such vivid details. I can almost see that orrery. There was this cat character outside. I know for sure the top half of the stone sphere on a newel of a staircase in the mansion could be removed.

Questions:
1. How long was the time limit (roughly)? Might imply something. Doubts short time limits on full-release games. Could be buried in a 10+ game collection. (Acknowledges exceptions, of course. Thinks of Shadowgate immediately.)
2. Was the time limit one section or the entire game?
3. Do you remember first-person or third-person perspective?

Might as well list more unlikely games. Selected cartoony adventure games.

Torin’s Passage, Koala Lumpur: Journey to the Edge, Toonstuck, or King’s Quest 7?

Dača kota Leopol'da ili osobennosti myšinoj ohoty? (Involves Leopold the Cat. Features a Tamagotchi-like minigame, apparently.)

Sorry for the late reply, I had kind of given up. I appreciate your help though.
I could answer your questions:
1. If I had to guess, I'd say one or two hours.
2. The entire game.
3. Third-person, definitely.

At least I found some other games I used to play searching for it, like this one:

* Background: Played this game in school as a kid in the US. Some kind of logic/puzzle game to get you learning without realising it. You're a kid on an island, and the objective is to collect stuff. For... Reasons? You had to complete the puzzles to collect the items. And then you put them in your pocket, and the kid would say, "into the pocket it goes!" Except it was text dialogue, not spoken. Might be called something along the lines of "Dr somethingorother's Island"
* System: Mid 90s PC, could have been Win 3.1 or Apple. Pretty sure it wasn't Win 95, but couldn't swear to it. Definitely in colour.
* Year: '95-97. 98 at the very latest, but unlikely.
* Perspective: Third person, 2(.5?) D. I'm thinking it was a bit like Monkey Island style.
* Art style: Static background, typical old school adventure game I think.
* Environment: On an island. I'm pretty sure you're alone on the island. There might be some kind of crazy dude in charge who will only let you off when you bring him the items. Maybe.
* Mood: The protagonist was light hearted. Not scary. Maybe even a bit silly
* Genre: Adventure/puzzle
* Gameplay: Puzzles and challenges. I vaguely remember throwing something into holes in the side of a hill or building or something.

Odd request -

A game recommended on these forums years ago (can't remember who). Top down view, pretty simplistic graphics (not much in the way of animations, more like turn based tiles). Rogue-like, with a TON of classes (20+), that all had a pretty significant range of variability. For example, there was a Chronomancer that had a lot of CC and AoE. A Demonologist which summoned a bunch of pet demons and buffed them. Etc.

Dungeons of... Talemdar? Marduk? Probably not the name.

I remember playing it fairly briefly and then putting it down in anticipation of bug fixes or some expansions, but never picking it up again.

Made it easy. Remembered uncommon class names exactly. Searched "Dungeon Chronomancer Demonologist". Returned Tales of Maj'Eyal first. Cross-checked the fora. Seemed likely. (Included Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup as insurance. Appeared several times in the Recommendation thread.)
Changes its form depending on the observer.

Evidently my bump was pretty ineffective. Nevertheless, thanks Deva!

Kind of a long shot but does anyone know of a realistic nuclear war game from the (original) Nintendo Era.

Background: I think that I played it actually on the computer with an emulator.
System: Don't know.
Perspective: None besides a bunch of "drop downs". There wasn't a whole lot of options beside selecting your target and weapon type.
Art Style: Raster graphics, not text based - mouse driven.
Environment: Bunker.
Mood: Nuclear.
Genre: Single Player.
Gameplay: Select your target and weapon type and press launch or something to that order. No politics, or chatting back and forth, just nukes.

There was actually a really inclusive amount of realistic targets.
