What where your favortie PS1 games?
I rather enjoyed the first two Spyro games, along with a couple of the fighters.

The original Spyro kicked ass. I think my favorites were Metal Gear including the VR missions, The Resident Evil series, and there was this one game. It was weird, ate the end of the game, (it was a sidescroller BTW) The only way you could kill the final guys was to use your melee attack, and when you did, the main character would whip the gun around. If someone gives me a name. they get two Mrs. Smith Cookies. Oh and I can't forget Tekken 2. I LOVED that game to death. Yoshimitsu FTW.

Spyro was awesome. Crash Team Racing, FFIX, Tekken 3, Legend of Dragoon, and Grand Turismo 2 were also all excellent.

So much time well spent.

Die Hard Trilogy
Final Fantasy VII

Alternating the two, I realised I'd actually lost five days.

Metal Gear Solid, Tekken 3, Grandia, Crash Bandicoot Warped, Tombi, Ape Escape, Destruction Derby Raw, Alundra, the Abe games, so many, many others.

Ah, the memories. The original PlayStation was the first console I owned.

The only PSX game I ever bought was SoulBlade. My brother bough a ton of games for it, but none of them interested me.

MGS is my favorite, by far.
Spyro (1 and 2) was fun, as was Crash Bandicoot (1,2 and 3).
Abe's Oddyssey I absolutely loved (though I never beat it...my memory got erased...grrr)
I loved Final Fantasy Tactics, but my disk scratched. Right now I'm playing through Final Fantasy Chronicles (which is just Chrono Trigger and FFIV), even though they aren't technically PSX games.
I played Monster Rancher, got my monster to the highest tier and all that, but once you beat it with one monster it doesn't have much lasting appeal. I never really got into Monster Rancher 2, though I own it.
Ape Escape is incredibly fun, I rented that so much that I probably should have just bought it instead, eventually I did.
I don't know how much I would care for it now, but when I was younger I loved Um Jammer Lammy, the spin-off of Parappa the Rapper.
Finally, Tekken 2 and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater (I still think I like the first the best, but 2 is great too).

I thought Tomba looked awesome. I rented the only copy of it at the video store, and the disk was scratched :-(. I never did get to play it.

I'm hoping like hell it gets released on the PSN.

I actually own like, two or three PS1 games, simply because I just rented everything I played then. Same goes for the PS2, I only own 9 games having finished hundreds. I started buying all my games with the PS3, now that I have teh monies.

Anyway the point is, more PS1 games on the PSN would be totally rockin'. The selection for the PAL store is horrible at the moment, even if we just got what had been released on the US store (Crash Warped plz), I'd be happier.

Crash Bandicoot 1 through 3, Crash Team Racing, Crash Bash (lost the disk a few months after purchase so never completed much), Spyro the Dragon 1 through 3. Gran Turismo 1 - responsible for one bashed disk drive lid following rage at a spin-out in the gravel. God-knows how many demo discs as well I played.

Crash 1 I abused with the "automatic game complete, all gems, all bosses, all keys" password cheat. Crash 2 was played fairly thoroughly, and I did once manage to down Cortex at the end. Crash 3 Bazooka power-up was epic, but I think I chickened out of the final boss level  . Crash Team Racing was truly unbeatable and a great multiplayer experience.
Spyro 2 I preferred slightly to Syro 1, as the gameplay additions and further controls (hover off a glide rather than fall straight down) made it a bit more fluid. Spyro 3 I completed easily, and the various vehicles/alt characters were great fun.

Other than that, I really can't remember others I enjoyed from the PSX, but I know I had tonnes. Possibly too many 'Mickey's Wild Adventure' style ones that were ridiculously difficult for a 12yr old.

Spyro : Year of the Dragon was the only Spyro game I played, but I really enjoyed it. Ditto for Crash Bandicoot : Warped and the Crash series. I only had a few PS1 games, and most of them have nostalgic value:

Worms : Armageddon
Worms Pinball
Bugs & Taz : Time Busters
Aladdin : Nasira's Revenge
Star Wars : The Phantom Menace

I also borrowed Jurassic Park : The Lost World, and liked it a lot. It had great graphics and music for its day.

...I can't do this without repitition :/

As said many times before, the Spyro games, FFs VII, VIII and IX, Abe's Odesee (or however it was spelled - I don't believe it was the accepted dictionary version, and can't be arsed googling it), and Tekken. There was a good X-men 2d fighter as well, I think - all the games are in the house somewhere with a couple of consoles.

Oh, and Robin S - I don't like you anymore, as you ninja'd me for the first time.

Was Spyro really that great a game? I always thought it was a bit too kiddy. I liked Gex 3D, though.

Resident Evil and Tomb Raider both strangle my heart with a nostalgic hug, mainly due to the fact that I played them both cooperatively. Then I repeated the bonding session with the same friends with the sequels. Was a bit too old by the time the third iteration of each game came out though. I think girls and underage drinking had entered the fray, there. And the friends I had grew out of computer games, a feat I haven't yet managed. Thankfully, most games are still aimed at my age range.

I love being a key demographic!

QFT. Kiddy isn't the same as patronising, although although a venn diagram of the two does have some overlap.

I said that? What was I on? It does seem pleasingly quoteish though. I should be in more signatures for shit like this.

Anyone remember Adidas Power Soccer? No? I liked it for the cheat which turned the commentators into two bickering fishwives. I also have a soft spot for Tenchu: Stealth Assassins. And Worms, for the epic house tournament. Six players, six teams, six-hundred games per night. Although nothing could match the Amiga 500 version of the original Worms. That was gaming perfection in disk form.

Did anyone notice that Final Fantasy VII had no loading times, once you were in-game? That is an understated thing of beauty.

Bushido Blade and Evil Zone were two fighting games that were sort of different, quirky, and (I thought) nifty in their own way.

Ape Escape's been mentioned, but I'll mention it again because it's just that cool. It's about the only PS1 game I can remember that really started using the whole dualshock controller to its potential.

This thread makes me want to go dig out the PS1 and fire up those old games. Hooray nostalgia trip!

The PS1 games that absorbed the most of my time were, lessee...
FF7 - of course. this was actually my *very first* psx game. I didn't even realize that you needed a memory card at first, and begged my parents to let me keep the system on until the next day when I could go buy one for myself!

Monster Rancher 2 - Ah man, this was so fun. the later monster ranchers didn't catch me quite as much for some reason. I absolutely fell in *love* with the Crab Saurians (Major: Zuum, Minor: Arrowhead) and raised them almost exclusively. The only exceptions were a few of the 'special' monsters you acquire throughout the game, and a Poison (Major: Fairy, Minor: ???) that was absolutely uber.

MGS1 - I must have played this game a dozen times. It was *so good*. This is science fact, and cannot be disputed.

Bushido Blade - not the actual game, but rather a tiny demo version that only had two stages and three characters that we got with the psx for some reason. Seriously, my brothers and I probably put 50 hours into that demo. Seems ridiculous now, but it was one of the most fun things we'd ever encountered.

Final Fantasy Tactics - another game which Science has proven to be excellent. Again, played through it about a dozen times. Eventually discovered the Top 3 Most Powerful team setups, and had fun destroying the game with them. For the interested, they are, in ascending order of power: All dual-blade monks with Blade Grasp with their Bravery bumped up all the way and their Faith dropped down all the way, 3 dancers (actually monks with the dancing ability) and 2 mimes just spamming Wiznaibus for 500-1k damage on every enemy on the screen every round, with no miss chance and ignoring defense, and finally 3 calculators and 2 mimes just murdering things. The last group isn't as fun to play, though, so I avoid them.
