Oddly, I don't really care much for the PS2 Armored Cores. Go figure.

How did I forget these games. Or, actually, Tomba 2. I never played the first one. I also never played the other two PS1 Armored Cores. Still, good games.

I'm totally spacing on the name of the game, but you were a cop in a mech thing that could switch between walker and hover craft and flew around these maps trying to get spawn points, which could then build tanks or planes to attack your opponent. You won when you got all the spawn points and killed the opponent. . . Blah, anyway...

RE 1 and 2.

Azure Dreams is one of my all time favorite videogames, for it's simplicity and genius. Two dragons fused with Pikkits (the fast thingies) are unstoppable. Better hope they don't get confused.

It wasn't a PS1 game, but... Herzog Zwei? It matches your description *perfectly*. Well, you weren't a cop, but you flew around a map in a transforming mech/plane, captured spawn points that produced tanks and such, and tried to kill the enemy's base.

*gasp*

Dude. Tombi 2 (/Tomba 2, whatever) sucked in comparison to the first one. The original was so good.

There was a demo for it on the disc that came with every PlayStation, so unless that didn't come with it in the US, you really have no excuse.

SotN, the final fantasies, VAGRANT STORY (you silly people, you), and no one has mentioned Legend of Mana. I know that one was prettty hit/miss with a lot of people. but I was a big fan.

Grandia was also awesome...
If I say that this is left purposely blank, then the statement contradicts the reality, which is that the sig space was not left blank, but had the words 'This space left purposely blank' in it.

Legend of Mana was pretty awesome. Not as good as Secret of Mana, but still good. My friend has it, I've played it, but the disk is scratched so some of the zones don't work.

FFVII - IX, *a lot* of FFT (I think I spent more than 300 hours on that game), Crash, quite a bit of Crash Team Racing for multiplayer, RPGs in general (both Lunars, Chrono Cross, Xenogears etc.).

I'm actually playing FFVIII these days.

Castlevania: SOTN is one of my favourite games of all time, and is also my best bargain as I got a mint-condition copy from a mate for a tenner.

Then there are the obvious ones, FF, Grandia, Vagrant Story, Alundra, Tomb Raider etc. One of the reasons I love my PSP is that I can finally play FF Tactics as it didn't come out over here like other 'classic' RPGs like Xenogears etc.

Also, Bishi Bashi Special, cost me £4 and I love it so much.

I actually need to fire up my PS2 and get some Einhander going. I got it on ebay or something awhile ago, and never actually played it. Other good games that haven't been mentioned are Silhouette Mirage, Strider 2, and Incredible Crisis.

Ridge racer. Or, in the style of the game, Riiiiiidddgge raaaaceer!!!
I could beat the loading screen invaders within the loading time, getting me the secret car. Could never beat the purple car though.

I bought Castlevania SOTN on import on something of a whim - I remember my mate laughing at the graphics on the box "it's only 2d LOL" and then getting totally sucked into it for the rest of the weekend. I think he learned that 3d isn't necessarily better after that. I adore that game even now - I dont think that even the new DS sequels quite match up to it though.

Einhander! What an amazing shooter! I've sadly no longer got a copy. If that came out for PSP I think I'd have to buy one...

Final Fantasy IX
Legend of Dragoon
Breath of Fire III
Final Fantasy VII & VIII
Wild Arms 2
Brave Fencer Musashi
Alundra
Monsterseed

In what is more-or-less that order.

Tekken & Tekken II - the most impressive cornea-melting leap in gaming standards since Driver usurped GTA II by going "all three dee" on its top-down shenanigans.

Also, Tomb Raider actually hurt my eyes last time I tried to play the original. It's like trying to play Alone in the Dark. (Either version)

Wip3out was for a little bit after.

And Rollcage was just an infinite demo to me. XD But it rocked hard ass.

I recently acquired a copy of Vagrant Story which is awesome. I just wish I could save it - I'm running it on a late-model PS2 which is apparently incompatible with (some or all) PS1 memory cards. Anyone got any ideas?

Actually PSX emulation is built in to commercial firmware for the PSP.
Just use a program to change the ISO into an EBOOT (basicly the .exe of psps) an stick in your memsticks GAME folder and Arrange Like this
GAME>"PS1 Game Name">Eboot and all necessary files.

If you are intrestead in installing Custom Firmware on your PSP and running homebrew, go to http://www.pspbrew.com.
There are tons of helpfull people; and really easy to follow tutorials.
I'm 1/-0 on the forums there, so I might run in to you.

The original PS1 Crash Bandicoots are my favourite series of games. EVER! Not just on the PS1. If I had to pick a favourite favourite favourite, I'd say Crash Bandicoot 2.

After that, I loved the Tomb Raider series. Rayman was the first game I had for the PS1, so I have a certain nostalgia attached to that as well.

Spyro series
Crash series (especially Crash Bash)
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series
Ape Escape
Worms World Party
as well as many others (I've got about 40-50 games for the Ps1)

Man, I loved playing those games when I was like 5 or 6. Luckily, I still have almost all of my old collection, as well as 1/2 (I know I have the small version of the Ps1, but I'm not sure if I have the original Ps1). Those were good times.

Kurushi. I only played the demo and never saw the actual game on sale, but I played that demo to death. Heaps fun.

LAPD Future Cop was total win. I busted 2 controllers on that. The X button got a pounding. I then proceeded to beat my mate at Tekken 3 with Hwoarang using the busted controller. Hehehe.
Tenchu 1 and 2. I've played just about every Tenchu game. I've always hated the boss fights because it just goes against the whole stealth kill thing, but the games are just so well done it doesn't matter. Plus you can usually spam grenades and the like to kill them quick.
Wild Rapids! Cheesy kayak racing game with poor Japanese translations FTW. "What happened to my great skill?!"
MGS, naturally.
Wipeout. Nobody's mentioned Wipeout yet? Come on!
Crash Team Racing. Not since Mario Kart on the SNES has there been such an addictive battle mode.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. They really got the police pursuit thing right in this one. I have no idea why they ditched it for so long after this, but I only really played Underground 1 and 2 beyond this one.
Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. To me this game is like Zelda Link to the Past if it was dark and macabre. It just flows in a similar way, even though deep down I know they're really different.
Soul Reaver. This was just awesome. I was never a big fan of a lot of 3rd person action games, such as Tomb Raider, but Soul Reaver was excellent.
Colin McRae 2.0 This was the one that really got me into Rally games.
Return Fire. Sadly, none of my friends got really hooked on this game so I didn't play much multiplayer. It had tons of maps and was like an early DOTA. You had fast but weak jeeps having only grenades as a weapon, the powerful ground attack tank, the even more powerful atv rocket launcher, and the chopper. You had limited supplies of each and basically had to destroy enemy turrets, walls and buildings to cut a path to their flag holding structure. Destroy that and you could send a jeep in to take the flag and get it back to your base. The William Tell Overture played whenever you collected the enemy flag, which was the perfect music for hectic runs out of the enemy base being chased down by the other player's chopper.
Siphon Filter. Another series that was win. Gabriel Logan is like Sam Fisher before Sam Fisher existed.
Urban Chaos.
THPS

I think that's about the extent of it. There were a lot of good games on that machine... I actually didn't get around to playing a lot of them till I had a PS2, since I was PC all the way when the Playstation was around.
