osu! is a rhythm game. It's as simple as that. While the main feature of the game might be it's resemblance to the Ouendan or Elite Beat Agents(EBA), there are two other modes, Taiko, and Catch the Beat.

The game allows players to play along to certain songs in the form of "beatmaps." Players will need to download these from the osu! website. There are TONS of different beatmaps available, including anime songs, video game tunes, and other famous artists. Search for them. If players don't find a particular beatmap available of a certain song, the game allows players to create their own!

I like this game a lot. The fact that you can play online and compete against other players blow my mind. I also like the fact that you can compete even when playing solo. There is a worldwide ranking system where you can compete and so who does the best in that certain Beatmap. I love this game and deeply recommend at least trying it since it's free.

I'll take a look when someone does William Shatner's "Common People".

EBA is quite enough for me already.

I hadn't thought about this for a long time until VGcats linked to this truly spectacular vid of a Pheonix Wright-themed game.

Alas, still no "Common People". :(

I've been playing this for a while now, but one thing I'd love to see is this played on an interactive whiteboard as you see in schools.

I'm one of those folk that will play the same song to master it. :(

As somebody who played the hell out of Ouendan 1+2 and EBA, I've been interested in it since it was first really coming together two years ago.

It's awesome, but I don't have a touchpad or anything, so the awesome is sadly lost on me. Still a great concept, but hardware limitations are a bitch.

Reviving the thread...

About a year since I started playing osu!. It has an awesome userbase. Lots of songs mapped everyday, almost every kind of song (though this is a bad sense of every) can be found. I found songs from TF2 to DJMax. I found the song of Portal 2 right when I was about to get the game :D

Heh, I remember this game, it was crazy hard. A bit too short and sweet to play more than once for me.

My brother got a college-invite-ad-thing from OSU. I drew this guy on it. :B

Osu! is great, especially on a touchscreen. But my touchscreen PC broke. :/ It's kinda weird playing with a cursor instead of touching the circles, so I don't really play anymore.

There is an iPhone/iPod Touch port, but it's only for jailbroken devices, so... yeah.

Here's a better choice though. although songs are made of gold in that case.
