I've even died using a cover-to-cover roll from an enemy at medium range that wasn't even facing me. The game forces you to sit behind cover, line up a headshot, quickly take it, and repeat. It gets dull.
Enemies are pretty dangerous, but I didn't find this to be the case even on the hardest difficulty.
