And to think this is all from the same generation of gamers that grew up playing Nintendo Hard games, many of which didn't even HAVE save systems - you had to write down a complicated password, or some games didn't have save games at all, not even with passwords.

Damn, we're fuckin spoiled.

Yeah well back in my day if we wanted to play games on a machine we had to go to find a pinball machine and wait our turn, and there might be two or three in the entire town if you were lucky. And there was none of this stuff like "multiple levels" or "passwords" or "pausing the game". If you stopped playing you had to put in another coin and start all over! And you had to walk forty miles through the snow to get to the coin slot! You kids don't know how good you have it with your newfangled video-whatsits and computer-jiggers.

Yeah, way the fuck back in the day you played your sword fighting in a field, with other people, and you didn't even get a save feature if you fucked up. But, you did get remission of sins and an auto-trip to heaven, which I suppose is nice.

Ah, but what magnificent resolution and you had multiplayer with thousands of players without any lag.

The matchmaking was terrible, though. You could spend weeks trying to join a battle, and then when you did the teams were always uneven. And don't get me started on loading times - even if you successfully joined an army and found someone to fight, you could end up waiting for months if they were in a complex area like a city or castle.
