Kingdom of Loathing

Postby Nuclear Spoon » Sat Jul 07, 2007 11:58 pm UTC

I searched, and was given about 87 results, but was surprised to find no thread dedicated to Kingdom of Loathing. Surprising, given the similarity of graphics between the xkcd and KoL.

For the uninitiated, Kingdom of Loathing is effectively a mockery of everything, in turn-based stick-figure RPG form.

I started playing this just before the end of 2005, I believe, and then stopped playing, and then started playing again, and it was on/off, on/off for a while. I think I managed to ascend twice in the whole time I played.

Anyhoo, now I've picked it up again, and I'm currently a Level 3 Pastamancer going by the name of "NukeSpoon". If enough people are interested, is there a chance of getting a clan going?

edit: And predictably enough, I just searched again and there was a thread on this from February ¬_¬.

It's almost better than porn.
Not quite, but very close.

I ascended once, and that was the end of it. Good game.

There actually was a thread on this, if I remember correctly...

It rocks though. I haven't played it in a while. Maybe I should log in so they don't freeze me.

Against my better judgement, I'm going to go ahead and create an xkcd clan.

Join if you feel like it. This is annoying, though, because I previously had my own clan that I had purchased all the amenities for singlehandedly.

A new one will cost me an oxycore ascension's worth of stuff. Approximately 1M meat. Boo.

I think it would be a better idea to find out how many people here would actually join.

hmm, I used to play that...
So, I got tired of the fact that the appearance of my band name in my signature made my posts on this forum the dominant result when googling for my music. Anyway, if you think I might happen to be a good musician, you can test this theory here.

I played (and stopped) before this "ascension" thing was possible. Maybe I could take a look at it again, considering that I'm starting to get bored while at work.

I'm a KoL fugitive. Hopefully they're not still looking for me. ;)

It's a fun game, fun community, mostly. But damn, for a game created with a turn limit so as not to eat your life, it sure does eat your life rather a lot.

Be careful. You might fumble and end up dropping your crossbow on your spleen for 5 damage.

Also, does the clan have levelling up stuff in it? 'cos that would be nice.

Well, neither the game nor the Wiki passed on that information. :)

So I have shrunken heads, tons of mushrooms, a packet of spices, a six-pound mosquito, and I'm wielding a suede sword. This game hurts my melon.

I can't decide whether or not to join the clan... right now I'm in a clan that's pimped out but not very active with all my family members in it. As such, I think I'll pass. Also, i'm much more hardcore than any of you. go search for my profile username=Rodan.

I'll try to join shortly (same name). While first playing yesterday I remembered that I used to have a fun time playing the market and selling beer lenses (and buying out anyone that had them for less). Anyone know if that's still profitable or if there's anything similar?

I'm addicted, me and my friend find the turn thing quite anoying, but it's probably for the better.

Will it be frowned upon if I start a Neopets Thread?

Hey, so I just sent everyone a (fake) gift as a token of appreciation for joining the clan.

Trust me on this, the clan will be much better once I ascend.

How long until then?

I happen to be in some other person's clan at the moment, I'm thinking it would be rude to leave.

Hmm... depends. I haven't been through NS13 yet, and I am in oxycore, so I'm expecting 2 weeks.

I'm on the level 11 quest, and I'm level 12.
