Guys in the xkcd clan: How much do we really want Hobopolis? I'm thinking I might just donate and then sell a Mr A or two to help boost funds so we can get into it. I'd prefer to only have to buy one for this purpose myself, since I don't have a lot of IRL money and I'd rather use the Mr A's for IOTM stuff, but if I have to make it two I will make it two, since most of you guys are new.

On a similiar note, Rodan, I don't know how often you check this thread, but clan leadership: I can has? Since you've said you're no longer planning to do clan stuff, and I would need leadership to get us into Hobopolis and distribute loot and things.

As much as I think Hobopolis would be fun, I need to perm skills and so won't be of high enough level to do much. I'll donate when I'm out of HC for those of you who do want to run it, though.

I'm in the Kol Ka Tet instead of the XKCD clan, but anyway... I'm thinking I might go on my clan's next hobopolis run. I'm, like, level 20. I'm trying to get enough filthy lucre to get a Manual of Transcendent Olfaction, so I'm pretty much doing a daily bounty hunt and then spending the rest of my adventures on trying to get various trophies and tattoos. (the "Kill every Dungeons of Doom monster 120 times" trophy takes a long time to get, but I've got time...)

I got that one! You can do pretty well selling off the bang potions in /trade or in the mall. Most of us are lowish level at the moment or hardcore players trying to build their skills (myself included, I went off the game for a while so I'm pretty behind in my planning), so I don't think we'll be in there for a while and it will probably be a slow run through once we're in. But it is more for fun than anything.

Which do you mean by "I got that one?" The Manual of Transcendent Olfaction, or the Extinctionist trophy?

The trophy. I'm far off the manual, I always forget to do bounties.

I don't know what the deal is with the activation email, did you check all your spam filters? Mine was caught as spam, I think.

I'm kinda interested in an xkcd clan, but I'm already in a clan and I'd hate to tell them that I want to leave them...

Is there any chance I could get a whitelist instead, so I could hop between clans on occasion?

What's the clan policy for distributing Hobopolis loot? I just took out Frosty; does that mean I'm allowed to distribute the loot myself? (I know the game allows me to distribute the loot, but I also know some clans don't like it when players do that without permission from the clan leader or stuff.)

DrCatapult accepted. I made a post on the message boards in-game, but basically policy is what you want it to be. I'm probably in favour of giving you the stuff you collected yourself, and that way you can do what you want with it.

Argh. Two weeks holiday, and I feel so guilty. When I logged in last I had 200 adventures and was taking my first steps into the Naughty Sorceresses lair. and then almost two weeks without Internet access!

OH HI a KoL thread! This is what I get for rarely venturing into this forum.

I've been playing on and off for a while now. I just applied to join the clan (same username as here!)

I stopped for months but now just got started again. I'm in the middle of my first hardcore run. I didn't realize how much I relied on the Mall, before. Yipes.

Ingame name is 'Arc of Aurora,' I used to make weird names.
I used to play this game frequently, and I just started 'playing' again.
My multi I was using to go through the ascension content got deleted, and I'm not so keen on losing my level...

All you seem to get is the advent calendar stuff. What's the point of the Crimbo?

Angry_Hippo wants to ascend (it's all done, the portal is THERE) but everyone told me to wait until after Crimbo, and, so far, nothing's happened yet.

Sure, there's only the advent calendar now, but there'll be more. If you want (spoilery) ideas about what might be coming, check out the KoLWiki to read up on last year's Crimbo.

Without knowing this year's plan specifically, I'd guess Crimbo Town will appear around 7-14 days into December, but that's just a guess.

Well, the big stuff usually rolls out maybe half past December. Last year, it started on the 14th, if I remember correctly. It'll happen soon enough, at which point everybody and their brother, especially those who have been waiting until after Crimbo to ascend (plus some who got bored and return only for Crimbo) starts playing 300 turns a day to get the most out of the short-lived content as they can, lagging up the game horribly. And yet, in spite of the lag, it'll usually be awesome.
Alpha Omicron wrote:I can has meat? Just a little? :(
Just so you know, the KoL community usually makes a point of not giving free Meat to anybody who asks, so as to avoid reinforcing begging behavior.

Why can't I go to Hobopolis?
Whenever I try the sewers, it just goes, "You shouldn't be here". Usuallythat would be followed by a "you must have at least <x> <main stat> to adventure here." Not in this case.

I never ever remember to check this thread, I'm hopeless. So for those of you that are new to the thread or the clan or whatever, hi! I am totally your clan leader (Gredashe in game, don't ask me why, it was three years ago) and you can get me far more easily if you PM me or kmail me in KoL.

Crimbo will become awesome, don't you worry about that. And Hobopolis will be open once we've got the funds back up, but not until after Crimbo winds up, so beginning of 2009.

I'm a level 30 (31? can't remember) Pastamancer. Rather old account (playerid ~36,000), made a ton of Meat off the massive bugmeat glitch. However, I lost 100 million of it due to a typo in the mall. >_>
Still have a lot of investments tucked away in my display case. One of these days I'll want to sell it as a lot on eBay or as individual pieces. (PlayerID: Homo italianus)
I rarely play anymore, but keep myself updated on new items and zones as they are rolled out. I killed Hodgman on one of my only Hobopolis runs, but my clan didn't give me shit for doing so - a Zombo's eye and shirt I couldn't wear. -_- Eh, that's what you get for not contributing the largest number of turns to the run.
I guess I contributed to lowering the prices of the elemental wads a while ago. I bought tens if not hundreds of thousands of items to smash. The resulting wads sold very well, and I made off nicely.
(Too bad the antique crap now smashes to dust.) I have a few multis I use now and then.
/End my experiences with KoL.

Man, I'm a dork. I need to read the KoL wiki more. I totally only figured out YESTERDAY about using The Spirit of Crimbo to get parts from the mutated elves. And of course now it is over and I can't get the parts anymore now that I know how. WHOOPS. How annoying.
