Prince of Persia: Disney Movie

Postby feedyourhead » Sun Oct 18, 2009 5:01 pm UTC

What. The. Fuck.

Does anyone else have issues with how wrong this movie is going to be? Not to mention the fact that it's a Disney production.

-The Prince does not have a name, especially not "Dastan."
-Who the hell is Tamina?
-It's the Sands of Time but he has his Warrior Within armor.
-It's Disney . . .

Am I the only one bothered by this?

Awww, no trailer? Well you can't say much until you see it.

Always give it the benefit of the doubt. Who knows? You might end up liking it. :D

The fact that its Disney is neither here nor there frankly. It'll probably be poor simply because past experience is films like this are poor (not 100% certain of course). But the Disney aspect? I couldn't care less.

"films like this" = movies based on video games.

Odds are this one won't break that barrier, Bioshock will.

'Often poor' then - I always forget the most necessary word. Though Pirates spoilt its copybook somewhat with the two sequels.

...and In the original Prince of Persia game the princess was white with red hair. God I was obsessed with that game. The second one was awesome too. I can hear the rattling bones, and the bloobidy bloop noise that happened as the skeletons assembled themselves.

It amuses the crap out of me...especially as I remember feeling Aladdin and that game were already too similar. The villian in Prince of Persia is also named Jaffar. I always wondered if that was a coincidence.

Yeah seriously. Why can't they ever find any olive-colored actors to play olive-colored people?

OK, so the only olive-skinned people in Hollywood are the white folks who spent too much time in tanning beds. We still need to hire Morena Baccarin as the Princess.

Honestly, we're just lucky that they don't get white people to play outright Orientals anymore. Watching Fred Astaire pretend to be a Chinese immigrant to America was the only dance sequence of his that I've ever skipped over.

I'll second this sentiment, if for no other reason than because Hollywood needs to realize that (natural) olive skins are hawt.

But I would actually pay to see this film, if only to spend the entire time laughing. And they'd get triple bonus points if they managed to make an entire theme song that fit Fresh Prince's tune exactly (along the lines of the snippet on the poster).

But then the sequel would come out and ruin the series. And then the game would come out (think about it: A game based on a movie based on a game)

At first I was Ok with Disney making it because I saw what they did with the Pirate movies and thought it would look just as good. But then I read about the story. Apparently the princess has the dagger of time and that everyone was attacking the city for it including the Prince and then realizes he needs to protect her. Its been awhile since I played the first one but dont you find the dagger exploring the dungeon in the beginning of the game and the Prince DIDN'T attack the Princess?

It could be good. If Bruckheimer could turn a Disney ride into a good movie, he should be able to turn PoP into one.

He didn't turn a Disney ride into a good movie, Johnny Depp did. Plus Bruckheimer's resume in general reads like something that has me running for the hills.

Mario Brothers.

I saw it on TV Guide one day a few years ago, thought to myself "Hey! This sounds cool!", and watched it.
It had NOTHING TO DO with the games except for villains and heros in name.

What's more, this movie is based on a game that's based on a much older game that had a paper-thin save-the-princess plot. Somehow, complaining about what armor he's wearing seems like pointless bickering.

I noticed that trailer had a large amount of jumping and climbing in it. Doom was a bad movie, but the worst part of it was where they did that scene from the eyes of the protagonist so it looked like a 3d-shooter. I hope they're not basing the movie on the platforming aspect instead of the story.

Does anyone remember how the trilogy ended with the same monologue as it began with? It's a nice monologue, I'd be a shame to waste it.

You appear to have confused the worst part of the DOOM movie with the only decent part of it. The entire thign should've been filmed from that POV.
