Anyone watching the Reflection ? Apart from the myanimelist.net page I can't find much information of this project. It looks like the adaptation of an American comic book, is apparently written by Stan Lee (I wouldn't know this name but he is apparently a celebrity in the funnybooks industry), but I can't find any information on actual books being adapted or even a wikipedia entry.

Also has a very low score on myanimelist, although I don't hate that show so far. I would admit it is not the prettiest thing I have ever seen, and the animation is like 10 pics per sec, but the design is not too classic (for Japanese animation) and the story may be good.

I went to a major anime convention recently and had the pleasure of watching "Anime Tamago 2016" (Translated: Anime Egg, which is the young-animator's training projects sponsored by the Japanese government). Each short is basically a 1-episode pilot episode.

Anime Mirai 2013 (the previous name of the same project) came out with the pilot episodes of "Little Witch Academia" and "Death Billiards". So really good stuff comes out sometimes.

Of the 2016 group, Kaze no Matasaburou stood out. It was extremely laid back: a "rural" story where a student meets the legendary Matasaburou. I can't say very much "happened" per se, but the environment of the show was extremely lovely. The "sketchy" 3d animation was of a very odd style, it was visually striking and intriguing. Just 30 minutes long but I enjoyed the experience.

Anyway, I'm trying to share this show with my friends legitimately. Does anyone know where I can stream or even purchase the video? Who would even know where to buy something like this? I have found it on BT but I'm looking for a legitimate copy first. It was worth purchasing IMO.
First Strike +1/+1 and Indestructible.

I wouldn't know, but a quick search revealed that there would be a 1940 film by the name (or should I say, spelling) Kaze no Matasaburo based on a short story and a OVA from 1988. So that 2016 thing seems to be the remake/readaptation of something famous in Japan.

(Also Lu Over the Wall will be released next week in French theaters, I wonder if the subbed version will be screened reasonably close to my place; that seems to be for kids after all, but I generally love what Masaaki Yuasa makes; edit: no it won't).

Has anyone here been watching the new Berserk series? I was watching one of the videos by this "Super Eyepatch Wolf" person and noted that he did a video entitled "Berserk 2016: What The HELL happened", and now I am left wondering if this received widespread critical panning.

Overall I think most people dislike the 2016 and 2017 Berserk series. I dropped them early, and the few good scenes that I saw only made me want to read the manga again (I had already read the arcs covered in these series).

At least they are supposed to tell an interesting story, so if you haven't read the manga and aren't interested in doing that, you may want to watch them.

This is not anime but very much anime-adjacent - has anyone watched the (live-action) Netflix show "Final Fantasy XIV: Dad of Light"? It's an obvious ad for FF14, but it's kind of weirdly sweet. It's about a guy in his 20s that used to be fairly close to his dad, and they bonded over playing the original Final Fantasy. Nowadays the dad is very distant and the guy decides he'll get his dad FF14, become his in-game friend in secret, and then reveal himself later on.

It's very silly and convoluted, but I'm enjoying it. It's also not very long - just 8 episodes.

Boyfriend and I watched the first episode, and thought it seemed charming, but not enough to prioritise it above the many other things we're watching together (including, on the thread topic, Sakura Quest, March Comes in Like a Lion, ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept., and My Hero Academia).
Probably we will, eventually? Only time will tell.

Netflix is a fixed point, or something.
