Her

Anyone else seen this/planning to? Finally out in the UK tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it after hearing all the raves. Plus score by Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett!

I thought it was an excellent film. I described it on FB as "the best and most hard-core sci-fi film I've seen in I don't know how long." and I still think that. It's pretty astonishing how on one hand it's so accessible, and on the other hand it doesn't shy away from deep sci-fi questions.

I heard lots of talk about this one. Only recently watched it. I thought it was stellar. I like some of the subtle details. When dictating to computers, people actually use a different tone of voice and don't say "umm", as the movie progresses everyone starts walking alone and the number of shots showing the passersby gets reduced. The world gets tighter, more focused, as the lead begins to focus more on Her, then opens up at the end and you see that the world changed while you were focusing on this personal story. Excellent cinematography and direction. Also good acting on the part of the protagonist.

One of the things I thought was really clever was the depiction of the best future, viz: everything's the same same except the tech is a bit better* and the fashion is all weird. Which is exactly what the present would look like from ten years ago

* the AI is more than just a bit better, obviously.
