Ascension

Postby Xeio » Thu Dec 25, 2014 2:23 am UTC

So SyFy did new thing. It was pretty good I think.

Kinda hoping they extend it to a full series.

Spoiler:
I don't think dude stranded on a far away planet is in good shape though.

Or... uh... the bunch of other characters they killed off.

Yeah, I liked it
Spoiler:
At first I did not like psychic powers, but I like this variation. I just don't get how it works. But I suppose that would be the point of the rest of the series

I was a bit skeptical too, especially the way Battlestar Galactica took a massive turn away from the "hard" SciFi it seemed to start as.

I don't mind it as much if the series is more up front about it.

Yeah. Galactica was like Mass Effect - very good, but a disappointing end

I enjoyed the 3 part series but I don't know how they would flesh it out further.

Pros.
I think they handled Christa getting her powers very well.
The honey pot was an interesting set up
I think the mystery of who was behind the explosions was done well

Cons.
While I think the politics of a generation ship could get this stupid, it would have been more interesting to focus on scientists or people actually doing the stuff that supposedly made the investment worth while. What did the council do besides be a waste of oxygen and food?
The whole upper versus lower sections seemed so needlessly tacked on. Sure Class Warfare, but this group of brainy scientist couldn't figure out a better way?
