I don't consider Peter to be one of the more compelling characters. I'd say Claire, Mr. Bennet, the Haitian, Parkman, Hiro, Eccleston's character (wiki tells me "Claude") and Nathan are the most compelling. Peter's power is interesting but his character is trite and he belongs to the Keanu Reeves school of acting.

So I think I figured out who Kaito Nakamura is.

During "Landslide" Kaito mentioned a story about Kensei going to learn the art of the sword-saint from "The Dragon of Kiso Mountain".

I'm guessing "Dragon" is a title rather than a descriptor.

Still got my money on the swordsmith. The swordsmith is the one who made up the magic symbol in the first place - surely he's someone important. There's no friggin' way they can ignore that.

Besides, they need a reason for Hiro to leave, and him finding out that his love interest is his sister is a pretty damn good reason to let Kensei have her.

Is anyone else thinking the swordsmith's daughter really isn't all that attractive?

Her eyes are too close together. And she's just generally unattractive. I have a hard time believing she's the prettiest woman in all of Japan.

People say that the swordsmith came up with the symbol, but I don't think that's the case. I remember early on in the first season, when the code of that program was scrolling across the computer screen, the symbol showed up in the genetic sequence itself. I mean, unless Suresh Sr. messed with his program to make it do that on purpose, it means that the symbol is more intrinsic to the heroes, and not just something Hiro's dad happened think of.

Go, go, go, said the bird: human kind

something else has been bothering me. Suresh's sister, the one who died, supposedly died of the virus which means she had the super gene or whatever, right? We're now to assume she was in some way related to the 12? Anybody have some weird theories on that one? I'm beginning to think suresh has some power too...

and I wish somebody would post a shot of that picture of the 12 as best they could make it.

Actually, I think Chandra Suresh's research, and the existence of his daughter and that dream-manifesty kid were the first indications that the 12 were no longer the only game in super-hero town, and that they were truly losing their hold on the situation. Not every special is related to them, and as time goes on, more and more are manifesting.

no I think uhura was married to the older guy in a wheelchair who died last season thus his son (mika's dad) had it and whoever the TV copying girl's parent was had it as well. Uhura is probably not the source of the gene.

The problem is Deveaux's lineage is kind of well set with Simone. I always understood her to be his only child, otherwise there'd be other people with him when Nurse Peter was taking care of the old dying man. Though I suppose it is conceivable (punny) that Deveaux had bastard children with Uhura (Nana Hawkins?), and that's why DL's kid and his cousin are supers. One suspects that if they're Deveaux's blood and he doesn't know it, then how did Linderman know to encourage the breeding of Micah from Niki and DL?

On the other hand, if Uhura is one of The Twelve (anyone else thinking BSG cylons here?), it would explain (at least to me) how Linderman knew that DL was a super and why he would encourage him to have super babies with Niki (Niki's dad = Parkman's dad? Probably not, but you never know around here).

On the gripping hand, I suppose Uhura could just not be related to them at all.

True, that's why I'm skeptical that he's also Parkman's daddy, but I wouldn't put it past this show to screw with that crazy of a theory. I just can't recall his face to disprove the fact that he isn't one of the men in the photo.

adoption...

Just saying, the possibility still seems to be out there that all supers are decendants of the 12...

Not really, what about when they were wandeirng about visiting others with powers? Like the super-hearing lady and the melty guy. The super-hearing lady was about as old as the twelve, not likely she was related.

I could see the majority of main characters being related to the twelve though, that would make sense.

Yeah, nobody there looks particularly indian, which would rule out Sinti Suresh (confirmed born of two non-specials) and the Dream kid. And you'd have to stretch really hard to put the Haitian in relation to any of the twelve, given his background.

I'd be disappointed if all specials are related to the twelve, just because of the absurd stretching necessary to make that true.

yes, the Haitian makes that a REALLY big stretch, good call.

Course, there could be another angle. The 12 were some kind of old school justice league and it had some kind of similar nemesis group that all the other characters are descended from...

Brainstorm: Mohinder is special. His sister clearly was, otherwise she wouldn't have died of the virus. He also caught the virus, though, and his immune system beat it. If that's not indicative of some power on his part, I don't know what is. If just any old person could catch the virus, and only the special ones were harmed by it, then it would be simple to get more antigens, and the Company would care much less about keeping Mohinder safe. It wouldn't be too out of line for Suresh Sr. to have eliminated his family line from the tracking program, especially after he developed a working relationship with Sylar.

Also, is it just me, or does the guy next to Nathan and Peter's dad look remarkably like Kensai, perhaps aged a few years?

... Do you mean Linderman? That'd be pretty interesting, actually, if Hiro brought Kensai to the future (maybe the fifties/sixties) and Kensai aged and became "Linderman." Kensai can revive himself. Linderman can revive stuff. Could be possible?

Just got around to watching the latest episode because NBC's player was fucking around with me. Interestingly, though, I was able to watch it without commercials -- maybe a beneficial glitch in the website? :)

Anyway, all I really want to say is that the coolest part for me was Molly's Ouija board scene. I thought it was put together very well, and the sound of that pushpin moving along the paper really helped.

When is The Company going to realize that sending people with powers after Peter Petrelli is a Bad Idea? Because seriously, it'd be easier to have a hoard of people with tranquillizers (or tasers) taking down Peter than giving him new powers. (granted, Veronica Mars had already given him her powers...)

Speaking of Veronica Mars, am I the only one looking forward to her getting her crazy little butt thoroughly kicked by Peter?

The Nathan/Matt fight was really well done. Liked it a lot.

Mohinder: Still stupid. Is that his superpower, to be super gullible beyond human comprehension?

Dear Niki, please die. Kthx.

Kristen Bell is full of evil electricity. Obviously she inspired Bioshock.

That said, there are so many characters with abilities! It's like the X-Men now where everyone and their best buddy has a power.

I really liked this episode. Really the first few had been pretty poor IMHO, this one was much better. I even cheered when the cop was able to develop his power enough to overcome his father's illusions.

Also, I think the acting on Nathan's character is very good... as opposed to most of the bad acting in this show. Nathan's badass side is friggin awesome.

Hmm, anyone else think of Room 101 when Matt and Nathan were fighting their worst nightmares?

I love TV girl; I'd totally be doing the same thing if I had her power. Don't mind Veronica Mars either; she seems sassy, and she killed Boyo man Ricky! Yay. And Peter is a sap; I wish Future!Peter was around.

Also, I want to join in the letter writing thing:

Dear Nathan,
You're awesome.

(no seriously. Love me.)
