Dead Set

Postby Ian Ex Machina » Tue Oct 28, 2008 11:02 pm UTC

Anyone watching channel4/e4's Big Brother semi parody horror involving fast zombies?

2 episodes so far and possibly the only Big Brother worth watching.

Caught the first episode. It's okay I guess. Nothing in it was stand-out funny or scary. The real main character of the piece, that girl whatever her name is (Kelly?) is really getting on my nerves, and had the most pointless introduction ever. The first thing we learn about her is that she cheated on her boyfriend, and is very unapologetic about it, yet I'm supposed to care when her new lover turns zombie and tries to eat her.

as far as I'm concerned this show is brilliant. Probably the most realistic zombie holocaust portrail I've ever seen and thus it does exactly what it says on the side of the tin. I thought it was especially great when that girl who we might naively have assumed was a complete idiot turned out to be a zombie killing genius.

Okay, so I've just got the final episode to watch now, and I'm still not sold. Characters make silly choices for no reason, the series still doesn't feel like it's gone anywhere. I'm not emotionally invested in any single character at all.

Frankly, it's boring.

As a massive fan of Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe I was really looking forward to this.

Then I missed the first episode.

And the single-night repeat of the whole series.

D'oh!

Yeah, it's on C4's Catch Up service... but that would mean overcoming all the other distractions of the Internet in order to watch it from 30cm away from my laptop screen on my not-so-comfortable computer chair. :|
