What forthcoming films are you looking forward to?

Postby McLurker » Mon Jun 04, 2007 3:46 pm UTC

For me, it has to be Stardust.

Based on one of my favourite books, featuring a great cast, and from the trailer it looks as if it going to be visually stunning. I can't wait.

What films due out in the near future are you all dying to see?

Stardust, and Ironman.

I've heard great stuff about the Ender's series, but have never read it, and everytime I say "I'll wait for the movie", my friend Ganoo gets this eye twitch....

Is stardust based on the Gaiman book by the same name?

"Room 1408" looks absolutely delicious. I'm a sucker for ghost movies, and this one looks very well done.

Looking forward to Bourne Ultimatum. The first two movies have been really good.

Harry Potter 5
Golden Compass

Both have very very high standards already set, I REALLY hope they can deliver. Obviously, it's hard to top HP5 with everything that Rowling packed in, but that was my favorite book in the series...if they screw it up, I will be SO pissed.....

I'm lame and I love movies.

Definitely excited for:
Ocean's Thirteen
Nancy Drew (are you kidding me? She was my childhood heroine.)
1408
Live Free or Die Hard
Transformers
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Possibly excited for (but we'll see):
Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer
DOA: Dead or Alive
Evan Almighty
Stardust
Good Luck Chuck

I, uh, tried to keep the list short. >.>

I saw the previews. I'm not sure if it'll be possible for them to top Die Hard: With A Vengeance (which was near perfection for the genre), but it'll be good to see them try. Bruce just seems to look tougher the older he gets. Look at his Hudson Hawk days, then look at him now!

Transformers (I'm sure I saw Hugh Laurie (AKA House) in the ad for it, though it was a very brief glimpse, so I could very well be wrong.)
Fantastic Four 2 (even if it is a sequel... Here's hoping it's still a good film!)
Is this SCIENCE?

Oo, good one! The first half of the preview made me think "Oh, whoopee, a 'growing up in turbulent times' movie", but the half of the preview... just... wow! One bone of contention... if you're gonna call it Accross the Universe, use the ORIGINAL SONG!!! (Or at the VERY least, the Fiona Apple version).

Yeah, for the first half I was thinking, "well, ok, I'll see it because I like the Beatles and it'll be interesting." But then when all the trippy things started.. it got a lot more exciting. I don't mind them not using the originals, since it's supposed to be a musical or whatever. And the Fiona Apple version kicks ass.

Where did all this coolness just come from?

I do look forward to Transformers, Simpsons, AVP2 (haven't seen good comedy for a while)

EDIT: also, for fun, War of the Servers

Well, it's kind of in development hell right now, so earliest would be sometime in '08. I would expect a trailer by the year's end, though.

No SHIT you forgot Transformers. I saw a trailer for it at "Pirates" last week and it ruined the whole movie for me, cause it was not even as good as the trailer for Transformers. Me and my roommate watched the old Transformers movie the next day, which we definitely did not download for free, no sir.

In conclusion, I am very stoked for Transformers. Call me a 10 year old at heart.

I bought the old Transformers DVD last fall in anticipation of this movie. It came with the first 3 or 4 episodes of the cartoon series, which was kind of cool to see.

That movie blew my mind when I saw it in the theater as a kid (I was 5 or 6). I literally had NEVER seem anything so AWESOME in my life.

We also did not download all four seasons of the cartoon, on account of that would have been stealing from people who made this cartoon over 20 years ago.

The movie is actually very good. I was surprised that I still enjoyed it, but I guess I shouldn't have been, cause like I said, I'm basically ten. The soundtrack features a Weird Al song, Leonard Nimoy was the voice of Galvatron, and there were several swear words.

I really should have read stardust when I had the chance...
anyway, here's a couple
Transformers
The Joss Whedon movie that's in progress that I totally forgot the name of...
The Spirit, based on the Will Eisner character and either written or directed (forgot which) by Frank Millar! Too bad it won't come out for years...
another superhero movie I've forgotten the name of, but sounded really interesting...
and the futurama DVD movies that are apparently going to bwe sold, then broken up and aired as the new season of the show...

it seems like usually I'm less forgetful...

I had forgotten about Ender's Game. You know how the powers that be behind movies are though, it's gonna get teen drama-ized. Either that or they'll use six year old actors and stay true to the book, then it'll have bad child acting. So I'm a little worried about it

Transformers looks pretty cool, my sister got me stoked for The Golden Compass(are those ATTACK POLAR BEARS I see in the poster? SWEET)Harry Potter, the usual I guess

oh, and Watchmen. Though I don't have high hopes and pretty much expect it to be lame and annoyu me endlessly when I refer to Watchmen and everybody thinks I'm talking about the movie. I hate that. It's already happened with HitchHiker's Guide, and to a lesser extent Spider-Man and X-Men...

Actually, it's quite interesting in the first Ong Bak looking at how white people are portrayed... there aren't many, but they're all rude and violent and mean.
