Tremors - Great movie, or THE GREATEST movie?

Postby RAGUS » Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:37 pm UTC

Saw a DVD pack with all four movies in it (yes, four) and couldn't help myself.

Watched the first one, and man, that movie is actually pretty damn good. The plot is very well laid out and the setups are clearly done with purpose (the movie ends where it begins, no one EVER knows where the damn lighter is, etc).

...the other three are in the pack also...

The Tremor movies are great fun. I wouldn't call them the greatest movies, but they sure are entertaining.

That's fine, since I don't generally find myself funning movies.

Still one of my favorite Bad On Purpose movies of all time.

I so remember enjoying the first 2 movies when I was a kid. I think I found them silly fun to watch because they sort of gave me that first shot of Survivalist Fantasy... whatever. I don't know what you call it. Think how George Romero got generations of geeks to contemplate hypothetical contingency plans for zombie apocalypses, or Randall and his Jurassic Park-inspired fear of raptors. The first movie was cool because it felt like a more extreme, predatory version of The Floor Is Made Of Lava. I actually felt disappointed a bit when the second movie diluted that element, but at least they expanded on the "biology" of the graboids a bit.

I didn't even realize they made a third and fourth movie until just a couple years ago. ("Ass-blaster"?!)
