If there's 8 in Endless Eight, then we still have 2 more to go, since only 6 eps of Endless Eight have aired so far.

I think Endless Eight refers to endless August. Anyway, I think I heard something about it being only seven episodes, or only seven of pure repetition. If indeed there are eight episodes, I hope something will change somewhere during the middle of the next one and then there'll be an awesome conclusion in the next episode. But I dunno, what could be awesome enough to end this? It's frustrating on many levels.

At least I can save time on watching the repeating episodes on fast forward.

I still hold a little hope that KyoAni will pull a reverse troll and count all Endless 8 episodes as one, leaving enough episode slots for other material from the novels.

EDIT: Knowing what they have to do to break the cycle, the conclusion to E8 will probably be in the second half of the last Endless8 episode.

The last one is going to have to start with one of the characters (one less passive than Yuki) remembering the whole thing from the start and working to fix it.

I thought that they have to (spoiler to Endless 8 end)
Spoiler:
study together the last day, changing Haruhi's from holiday to school mode.

But I haven't read that far in the novels, so I can't be sure. I just heard that somewhere.

Also, Yuki won't break the cycle, I think. Her job is observation; and since she keeps her memories between iterations, the Endless Eight is a perfect opportunity for her to gather loads of data about Haruhi.

Off topic: how come the notebook in Death Note never runs out of pages? The amount he uses it, and the apparent thickness of it, you'd think it would run out of pages after just a few days.

Raito probably writes (Hehe, 'Raito', 'write-o') really small.

Also off-topic: Is anyone here looking forward to the Fairy Tail anime coming out later this year?

It's the romanjination (or however it's called) of "light" in Japanese. They have no L sounds, only R, so the "la" turns to "ra". And they have no consonant t, so it turns to "toh".

Well, I tend to agree with you, except there are some exceptions. For example, in the Hebrew translation to Dune, the Bene Gezerit aren't called "Bnot Gishrit", which is the name in Hebrew. Nor is Paul called "Kfitsat Haderech". They use the original ("bastardized") names from the English version. So I dunno, I won't completely rule it out.

It's not that his name is "Raito" romanized into "Light", it's the other way around. His name is Light, "Raito" is not a Japanese boy's name.

Well, I think "Raito" sounds a lot less my what a wonderful world you people have here with rocks and trees and grass and things and ants and sometimes horses that have no names but that's okay because the ocean is also a desert or something about life being hidden underground with a disguise or something... I forgot the words... than "Light". He's douchey enough without having a pretentious name as well.

ZSZS 4 is out but only by Suimasen... I think I'm going to wait for GG because their translation seems absolutely horrible and nigh incomprehensible.

gg's SZS subs only seem to work in VLC. That is slightly irritating since I use a different default player. :x

Download codecs like ffmpeg/ffdshow and some other stuff (I don't know specifically which one does the sub bit...). I play it in Windows Media Player because VLC seems to fail at subbing sometimes.

I'm using CCCP (Media Player Classic) and it works fine. I used to have subtitle problems with VLC so I looked for a different one, and CCCP never screwed up on me before.

Zan is a lot more interesting than Zoku, imo. I was going to drop the series because it felt really redundant and un-funny.

So does that mean they're going to break the loop at the end of the next episode, or they don't break it until the one after that?

I think the next one is the last in this story arc. They really should have made it three episodes. Four, if they reaaaally wanted to stretch it.

Also, in Japan they just call months by the number they are in the year. So, Endless Eight really means Endless August, it's not the Alliteration that made them name it that

Definitely one of the better moments of the series. I think it was in the 190s or so FYI. The Bleach story line lately is full of filler, back story, and separated story archs. I hate how they have some major major build up to a climactic thing and then just decide to stop in the middle of it and have a 15 episode story that happens AFTER the climax. Moronic. It also removes any chance of death or other major character change from happening in your climax because you've showed everything went back to normal afterward and everybody's still fine.

Bleach also struggles with formulaic duels. It particularly sucks because these make up most of the actual episode content. There's a little too much DBZ type stuff mixed in IMHO.

I love the back story and depth of the worlds and characters they create. Eh, whatever. It's clearly made for a very Japanese young adult audience which I don't share much in common with.

The filler arcs aren't set after the actual story arcs. They're completely non-canon stories basically set in an AU that's separate from the current story.

Except for the original Dragon Ball manga, I haven't really read any series. I like Bleach as anime, though. I sometimes have trouble "filling in the blanks" in action sequences in comics. When I read comics my brother brings me, I don't concentrate on the action at all. It's mostly a "OK, this guy is doing good or that one is" and see what's the end result. I don't try to create a flowing motion out of the static images.

EDIT because I posted last:

I'd like to see an intelligent series that deals with politics and/or war. I've really enjoyed Code Geass and Death Note and I'm wondering if you can recommend similar shows for me to watch.

Gundam Wing is mostly a discourse on politics and war. Hell, most Gundam centers on "war sucks".

Tytania is basically a space opera/ space ship military and politics filled anime. Your mileage may vary but I enjoyed it (albeit it ended too early).
